human relations in informing the development of a personal leadership philosophy
The personality of a person is their unique way and patterns of thinking, behaving, and
feeling. The elements of personality determine their sociability as well as irritability. Irritability
is the ease of being excited or upset by factors in a person’s environment (Reynolds, 2014).
People who are highly irritable are those that get upset by factors that other people see as minor.
Such people are likely to overreact to issues. Sociable people are those that are easy to interact
with. Sociable people are liked by people as they are easy to stay around. The irritability or
sociability of people determines how hard it is to be their follower. Hence, the personality of a
leader determines whether they prefer a philosophy that requires them to form close relations
with followers or not. For instance, I am sociable person. Therefore, I interact with people in the
place of work and prefer transformational leadership in which I work with followers and inspire
them to work hard.
The leadership style of a person is the person’s method of offering direction, motivating
the followers and implementing their plans. The leadership styles are based on concepts that
form the philosophy of the leader. In my case, over the seven years that I have been a nurse, I
have developed the preference for transformational leadership because it allows me to focus on
