America has been experiencing changes and development since the 18th Century due to
many reasons and factors surrounding the nation which made it more diverse and advanced. The
Westward Expansion is the greatest event that occurred from 1860 all the way to 1890
completely changed the region to significant features up to date. There are many reasons as to
why America underwent through the Western expansion as it was beneficial to survival,
conquest and the growth of different infrastructure around the area. Geographical factors like
availability of water in the west contributed to this event and in addition the need to conquer
areas in the west which were mostly vacant or occupied by fewer people. As a result, America
developed more railroads in the effort to connect its many cities which also emerged due to rapid
population growth and finally made the agricultural sector successful since the people could
access basic resources like land and water. The paper focuses on the changes that took places in
the cities, agricultural lands, railroad construction and the establishment of territories due to the
westward expansion.
