Argumentative Essay

There is an interesting statistical projection from which the debate should be wary of, and
one that anyone should seek to understand for an objective interpretation of the issues presented
in the interview. According to the US census data, “nearly half of the children currently under
the age of five are minorities and no racial or ethnic group will be a majority in the year 2050”
(Nganga, 2). It goes to indicate further that the people of color are on the rise, both in the social
and formal institutions, and the waning dominance of whites, the formal institutions such as
schools are still likely to continue being influenced by the dominant culture, rather than seek to
embrace diversity as a way of serving their fundamental roles. Therefore, it means that the
Western European values are likely to continue shaping the activities of such institutions, thus
leading to a loss of an identity, which is one of the aspects that the interview tries to
circumnavigate on. Interestingly, the conversation seeks to establish a culturally-relevant process
that is cognizant of the community values, traditions and heritage that the interview emphasizes
on, as a way of having a social welfare program that resonates with the needs of the people.
