Amazonian Agriculturalists Bound By Subsistence Hunting
The main point behind this article is that initially, we all know that we came from an
indigenous species whereby people used to hunt animals and plant food just for the purpose of
consumption and not for sale. This is actually the times when the world was not yet civilized and
people used to live in the wildness (Minzenberg et al., 2011). It was actually a moment of its
time as people had no expenses such as rents and water bill because everything was obtained
from nature. But as time went by and the world became civilized things started changing in the
sense that money started changing people’s mind in the sense that individuals started destroying
nature in order to earn a living. In other words, people started hunting wild animals in order to
sell such things as animal skins so as to make some money out of it. People started cutting down
trees to build their houses of which it led to deforestation. This is the same thing that is actually
still happening in the Amazon region.
At this particular moment, there is still a community known as the caboclo which actually
is a community that still lives the ancient livelihood where people used to live in the forest and
obtained all their resources from nature. These people actually participated in subsistence
hunting whereby they hunt animals for non-commercial purposes. According to the author this
was actually a good thing and the main reason for this is because it helps to preserve the

environment hunting of animals and cutting down of trees was not meant for making money. It
also helped in reserve kingship ties between the people of this community and the reason for this
is because people used to share the animals that they have hunted which actually help build a
friendly ecosystem between these people (Minzenberg et al., 2011). On the other hand we all
know that money is usually the root of evil and the main reason for this is because hunting of
animals and cutting down of trees in the Amazon region started being commercialized of which
the end result is that the ecosystem of the caboclo community became damaged because of the
increased cutting down of trees and also the hunting of animals.
