Answer the above question to the best of your ability

RESPONSE PAPER 2

Attached are two photographs you will use to explore the Visual Elements of Art and the Principles of Design.
Laura Knapp, "Selfie", 2014, Digital color photograph, dimensions variable--on pg 583 in "A World of Art"
Cindy Sherman, "Untitled #96", 1981, Chromogenic color print, 24 inches x 4 feet--on pg 589 in "A World of Art"

1) Describe each of the photographs. Use the same method as in Response Paper 1. Use the level of attentiveness that you achieved in the first paper. Do not include the observations list in the paper you turn into me--just the essay/paragraph description as the answer to question #1. But listing the observations may be helpful to you as you work!

2) Color is tremendously important in these photographs. Discuss how it is used in each and the mood that color sets.

3) Choose one additional Visual Elements of Art (line, shape, space, light, texture, time, or motion) that is prominent in each photograph. Discuss the use of the element in the photograph.

4) Name the type of balance used in each of the photographs. Describe how this balance is carried out formally (i.e. what Visual Elements of Art are helping to create balance within the image). Compare each photograph with an artistic example of balance in this week's reading.

Make sure to use the vocabulary from your chapter readings!
You will be graded on the depth of thought and engagement that you have with the ideas.
Please answer the questions one at a time--i.e. NOT in a single essay format.
This paper should be around 500 words to be successful.
