Is it Ethical to kill a Robot? Why/ Why not?
Robots are the new era’s technological advancements. They are significant because of
their high level of intelligence, work performance, and efficiency. The Artificial intelligence
robotics are even more enhanced to feel and think like humans. Their advanced scope of
knowledge and human understanding is a mesmerizing feature that makes humans rely heavily
on the robotics. However, Robots pose a threat to the entire existence of humanity by rendering
humans incapable of performing tasks to perfection like machines. The question as to whether it
is ethical to kill robots is a matter that has caused a heated argument between scientists and the
society at large. Therefore, it is acceptable to retire a robot because their electronic components
are recycled, and they can be reborn with more advanced functions.
An error is prone is to human nature, and robots are not an exception. Common
malfunctions and mistakes in any work of creation are inevitable even to scientists. A technical
hitch can cause severe damage if not addressed immediately. Robots as such are prone to a
multitude of faulty technical issues and errors considering human scientists create them. For
instance, in July 2017, a robot killed a woman-Wanda Holbrook- in the Michigan car production
line. This act was as a result of the robot going rogue and making an error.
