TECHNOLOGY AND ADDICTION
In today’s world technology is all over and this is not about to change anytime soon. It is
commonplace to see people staring at their phones, laptops and tablets without taking their eyes
off even for a second. It is very popular nowadays to see two individuals in a restaurant or even in
a bus or train, busy skimming through their phones as they chat with others online instead of trying
to have a meaningful conversation with one another. This behaviour is prevalent among teenagers

technology to serve as a fix because it takes their mind off their issues thus making it so addictive.

It seems to provide rewards similar to that of alcohol and other drugs. It serves as one of the best
busters of boredom, a social lubricant and a means of escaping one’s reality.
Tablets and smartphones, computer and video games, Internet and the social media provide
opportunities that may lead to complete over dependence on technology and this negatively
impacts the youth.
The Internet is a multifunctional tool that makes it possible to have unlimited access to a vast
