A BIBLICAL REVIEW AND ANALYSIS ON PRAYER
Read Revelations 3:20, recall Hallesby's definition of prayer which is based on this verse.
What is your reaction to this definition?
According to Hallesby, a prayer is a form of intimate and joyous relationship which is
usually created between and in an individual with an open heart towards Christ. Also, it is related
to a kind of body's functional system such as the breathing system whereby the inhalation and
exhalation of air are likened to being prayerful and how the relationship is established and
developed between a believer and Christ Jesus. Therefore the meaning, purpose, and components
of prayer are not such a complicated issue. One has to open up his or her heart, and the Lord
Jesus will enter and fellowship with him/her (Hallesby 1962).
Have you ever felt that prayer starts with our moving Jesus to listen to our prayers? How
might our perspective on worship be changed with the understanding that it is Jesus who
moves us to pray?
Our perspectives might be easily changed when we learn to accept the fact that without
Gods intervention, we can do nothing. Also, we should determine that God is willing and ready
to solve our problems no matter how wicked sinners we might be. Thereby he does not focus on

prayer was created to cleanse our dark souls who were corrupted by the serpent from the
beginning of the humankind. Also by being open and letting Jesus know the exact status of our
hearts, it's enough to receive his mighty interventions towards one's sorrows. Also, understanding
that prayer is not dependent upon our emotions or our thoughts before and during the prayer is an
apparent fact. About the after marks scenario whereby his feelings and thoughts were nothing
close to a hindrance of Jesus' interventions.

Hallesby writes that all He needs is access. What may be some of the reasons why people
would either deny Jesus to access into their hearts or not even hear him knocking at the
door of their hearts? What are some of the consequences of not hearing or responding to
the knock of Jesus?
Some of the people deny Jesus access to their hearts due to several reasons such as failing
to understand whether they are helpless or not. Not recognizing one's inner self is a predisposing
element that propagates sins and...
