Question Description

Begin by selecting a television or magazine advertisement for a technology of some form. Post an analysis of the underlying gender assumptions and representations made within the advertisement. You must support your argument with evidence from the learning resources and use appropriate APA or MLA standards. Be sure to address the following in your initial post:

  • Describe the advertisement, and post a link if one is available. What technology is it advertising, and how?
  • Who is the intended audience? Men? Women? Both? How do you know?
  • What are our cultural assumptions regarding specific technologies and gender?
  • Are those assumptions inherent in the technological product? Why or why not?
