Scenario Paper Responses

Responses should highlight points about his or her submission that you agreed and disagreed with. Bring new knowledge or points to the topic. Do not restate every fact that was written in the author’s submission. Remember these are not opinion pieces. You must support your ideas and positions with facts when stating why you agree or disagree with a point. Disagreement with another's position is a healthy part of the discussion. However, you should not degrade or demean your peers. This is unacceptable.

All students are required to read and respond to at least one peer's scenario submission. Unless otherwise noted, your response must:

  1. Be at least 300 words
    1. The purpose of the responses is to ask questions, gain clarity, share experiences, or give additional insight and perspective. Just stating, “I agree” “Good job” or “I liked your paper” is not a substantial or acceptable response.
  2. APA format
    1. Your response should not be formatted as a letter or any other type of informal correspondence. It should not start with greetings, e.g., Dear Fred, Hi Steve, or Hello class. Similarly, it should not end with an informal statement, e.g., Thanks, Jason, Sincerely Lisa, or any other type of casual closing statement. Your submission should merely end with your reference list
    2. Because these submissions are short in length, it should not consist primarily of bullet-points. Use fully developed sentences and paragraphs to articulate your thoughts.
  3. Include a reference list.
    1. You must use at least 2 scholarly references no older than 2005, and have in-text citations.
    2. Responses that do not contain scholarly or reputable sources are not scholarly submissions.
  4. Be written in a clear and concise manner
    1. Proofread your work to ensure that it is free of grammatical, contextual, and spelling errors.

Here are some common problems, which are discussed in the syllabus, that my tutor have noticed some response submissions:

1 - All assignments are academic submissions and require scholarly references to support your positions. What I am finding is that some students are not supporting their positions with academic or reputable industry references. Without references to support your views, you are stating your opinions. The syllabus states, “Remember these are not opinion pieces.” Similarly, the response submissions are not review pieces. So you should not include statements such as, “The author did a good job introducing the topic of data breaches.”

2 - Some response submissions were restatements of everything that was already written in the student’s original submission. The syllabus states to “Bring new knowledge or points to the topic. Do not restate every fact that was written in the author’s submission.” If the post that you are reading is discussing the business continuity plan to establish an alternative site, and this is a point that you agree with, recommend an element to include that was not discussed. As an example, “I agree with your argument that the business continuity plan should be established to assist the organization with restoring its operations at an alternative site. Another element that would be useful to the organization at its alternative site, which could be included in the plan, is an electronic notification system. An electronic notification system will enable the organization to send information to its employees if there are changes that have occurred at the alternative site (xxx, xxx).”

3 - The response submissions are formal academic submissions. However, I am finding that some students are constructing their responses as informal correspondences. Per the syllabus, “Your responses should not be formatted as a letter or any other type of informal correspondence. It should not start with greetings, e.g., Dear Fred, Hi Steve, or Hello class. Similarly, it should not end with an informal statement, e.g., Thanks, Jason, Sincerely Lisa, or any other type of casual closing statement.

4 - Your reference list must be in APA format.

An example of incorrectly formatted reference:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/822400/description-of-disaster-recovery-options-for-microsoft-sql-server

An example of a correctly formatted reference:

Naseri, A., & Azmoon, O. (2012). Proposition of Model for CSIRT: Case Study of Telecommunication Company in a Province of Iran. IJCSI International Journal of Computer Science, (9),1. Retrieved from https://pdfs.semanticscholar.org/c819/f8db6bbe59de72915ffbb42c580a8ec90e60.pdf

5 - You cannot have a reference listed in your reference list and not have its corresponding in-text citation. You also cannot have an in-text citation without the source listed in your reference list.

An example of a correctly formatted in-text citation:

This gives the hacker access to personally identifiable information, such as social security numbers, that reside on otherwise secure internal file servers (Chapple, 2014).

Using the same example, this is an incorrectly formatted in-text citation:

This gives the hacker access to personally identifiable information, such as social security numbers, that reside on otherwise secure internal file servers (Jack Chapple, 2014).

Even if you are paraphrasing what you read into your own words, these were not your original thoughts, and you must include an in-text citation for that author.

If you are unfamiliar with formatting your references, please review the syllabus or the Purdue Owl for assistance.

6 - The use of bullet points in your response submissions. The syllabus states, “Because these submissions are short in length, it should not consist primarily of bullet-points. Use fully developed sentences and paragraphs to articulate your thoughts.”

7 - General grammar, spelling, and contextual issues. One sentence does not equate to a paragraph. You cannot start sentences with lowercase letters. Please proofread your work; at the very least it should not include misspelled words because iLearn and Microsoft Word both underlines misspellings with a red indicator. Make sure that your sentences make sense and that you are not using words out of context. As an example, “The institution fixed that their corrective actions in develop like risk assessments, permanence response papers, series of plan of actions to take care of series of compliance plans.” A tool that I use is to read my papers aloud; this helps me to catch things that I may have overlooked by reviewing my documents on the screen.

These significant issues are reoccurring in both the scenario papers and responses. So, I cannot stress enough how important it is to read the syllabus, use the resources, and ask questions about concepts that you are unfamiliar. I want everyone to be successful in this course, so please do not impede on your own success.

Introduction: Working in a health care business we deal with many applications which include third party vendor applications and also web applications Providing better patient service involves lot of integrations for getting patients electronic health record(EHR) and also maintaining Physician portal. One such Application that is build on the salesforce platform is the “Calls” design which helps the sales people to key in the information of the providers when they are in the doctors office. first step in business impact analysis is to determine and identify all of our business processes and the recovery criticality for these processes will have to determine how a system disruption will affect our critical systems and we'll also have to determine our outage impacts and our estimated downtime if an incident occurs. So the new application build is used extensively as the sales reps are in the field most of the time and enter key information of the doctors like the next steps on buying few products and services or raising tickets for the issues they had on the products they use. second we will have to identify the resources that we will need to get our systems back online quickly. Due to the new features going live made the existing “call” feature broke down which resulted in the sales executives not logging any activities in the system. So the Team have conducted grooming sessions on setting an action plan on how to bring back the application to running state and the effort involved and the maximum outage time. and third we have to identify the recovery priorities for our system resources we have to determine which systems are the most critical and make sure that we can recover the most critical systems first and the least critical systems last to make sure that our business processes and functions can continue without a negative impact when we're conducting our business impact assessment we will have to determine how we will be affected if an incident occurs and we'll also have to determine how long we can be without our systems. This will impact the companies future prospects as there will be some missing data within the broken functionality time. This will hugely impact the metrics that the leadership depend on. Inputs: Companies resources have been involved in building this application for the salesrep team which includes Product manager, director and a developer for building the design in the platform. This is a huge investment. Conducting workshops for the internal teams by presenting them and walking through the process of how to key in the data and use the application, it’s the responsibility of the product team to make it a user friendly system. Providing support to the teams by joining them in the field and figuring with real time issues that the team faces with the application and if possible coming up with a solution on the fly or if not as early as the team can. Outputs: This will be a good source of truth for the teams when they have check any contact information of the doctor. Technically this can be referred as a physician portal. The leadership can get lot of information like what are the best selling products and what geographical locations are the best selling. Also issues can be looked at and also leadership can monitor the sales activities and evaluate the teams performance based on their work recorded in salesforce. Legal Ramifications: Usually data breaches are getting very frequent due to the extensive use and switching to cloud and online systems. As a part of the meetings held with the physicians the sales team should spend some time with the physicians on creating awareness about compliance like HIPPA as hospitals and doctors offices are large repositories of patients data such as social security number, private information and patients records which is very sensitive. Analysis shows that every 20 seconds identity of the individual is been stolen. It enables companies to identify the most critical operations within the organization and seek ways of protecting these operations in case of disasters. This paper will carry out a business impact analysis of the Communications, Cabling and Networking company. The communications, Cabling and Networking Company were founded in 1985. It is known to offer wireless network services, installation of cabling infrastructure and provision of fiber services its customers. The company is among the group of entities that exist under Owners Edge Inc. Company. CC&N company offers communication services to companies and consumers through cabling. Therefore, consumers can get data, voice, telegraph, video, IoT, and other core business services. It also offers networking services, thus enabling companies to connect important critical business systems and devices and communicate via the internet. The company carries out various core processes which include systems design, installation, ongoing service provision and project management operations. Except when the conditions are beyond the control of the cable service provider, the company should work on any cable outage not later than 24 hours after being informed of the interruption. The company has various technologies that enable it offer superior services. First, it has a physical cabling system that is used to connect devices and resources in distinct locations. Second, the company incorporates in-building repeaters known as Distributed Antennae systems to ensure consumer access wireless communication when they are indoors. This ensures efficient indoor cellular communication coverage. In its design, the company also ensures safety of its customers is considered by installing public safety repeaters to enable the company to communicate to the 2 BUSINESS IMPACT ANALYSIS relevant response team. The company also has experienced technicians and engineers who work together in designing and implementing cabling and network systems. It also has a team of innovative scientists and engineers who work hand in hand with customers to improve on existing services. The company has network and infrastructure experts who provide design services to other companies. Lastly, it has a group of experienced IT experts who help in solving companies’ problems. The three main inputs dependencies include ongoing services such as data and voice, design, and installation. The output dependencies of the company include voice, data, video, and network designs and project management and development. The input dependencies are needed for the output of different operations in the company (Bai, Dong, Tsai, & Chen, 2005). Technicians and engineers require data and voice services to carry out their research and design systems for companies. Second, for the company to be able to implement network and cable infrastructure, it requires input from the design process done by engineers. In addition, the projects implemented by the company also depend on designs made by engineers. The output dependencies depend on input dependencies. Voice, data and video services depend on the various operations in the company such as designing of the network systems, installation and implementation of the designed systems. Network installation and cabling are outputs of project management processes. The legal guidelines require that cable service operators inform companies of any scheduled installation or cable maintenance. In addition, the installation process should not take more than four hours of the normal working hours. The cable operators are also allowed to rearrange appointments at the comfort of the customer (Drew, & Liu, 2008). The standards guiding 3 BUSINESS IMPACT ANALYSIS cabling companies on outages, installations and maintenances calls should be met by a minimum of 95% of the time required. In case of an outage, I would propose that the companies subscribe to a standby service provider who they can rely on in case of an outage. The above discussion has several benefits to the Communications and Networking Company. First, it will help the organization know the possible effects of outages on critical operations of the company. It also helps the company stakeholders to know what it is supposed to do in case of outages as well as the legal rights that protect them from being exploited by service providers (Tjoa, Jakoubi, & Quirchmayr, 2008). The disadvantage of the analysis is that service providing companies are faced with pressure from their subscribers to meet the set-out age standards. 4 BUSINESS IMPACT ANALYSIS References Bai, X., Dong, W., Tsai, W.
