Left-wing domestic and extremist groups
Both left and right extremists engage in activities protected by the United States
Constitution, which guarantees every citizen the freedom of assembly, and the freedom of
speech. The law enforcement is sometimes involved, when the volatile talks of these extremist
groups transgress into unlawful action. The police must identify the threat to domestic
terrorism, and stop them before they happen. The American law enforcers and the federal
bureau of investigation, have a critical role in responding to critical incidents which include
monitoring domestic terrorist activities, stabilizing the community, reducing community fear,
and sharing information with other policing agencies (Dempsey & Forst, 2016).
According to Jerrold (2015), extremism places more weight on the shared
distinctiveness which explains the attitude of terrorists, and the diverse spectrum of terrorism.
Terrorism can be classified into various categories such as anarchist wave, left the extremist
group, the religious wave, and the anticolonial extremist group. The left-wing domestic
terrorism is associated with social revolution. The left-wing extremism includes the
communism which developed from a working-class movement aimed at changing the existing
class distinctions. Currently, private citizens and state-sponsored groups, plan, facilitate, and
commit terrorist acts against the United States. Example of terrorism perpetrated by the left
extremist includes the designated terrorist attacks which were executed by the Puerto Rican
