Introduction
In the contemporary world, technology is becoming influential in all sectors. It is
apparent that technology has improved the efficiency and reliability of information for many
years in various sectors. For instance, the introduction of Electronic Health Records in the health
sector has increased the efficiency of the health practitioners across the globe. To understand
information systems security, it is significant to understand information system first. An
information system is a well-organized system created primarily for the gathering of information
in a particular field, storage and accurate dissemination of the information. In the short history,
information systems have rapidly developed and advanced. Similarly, the society has advanced
with the developments in technology thus becoming more technologically efficient and reliable
(Peltier, 2016). It is apparent that the increased use of information systems in businesses and
various organizations has increased performance, competitiveness, efficiency and profitability as
well as creativity and innovation. However, as the technology grows and people become more
advanced, information systems become vulnerable to various security risks.
Therefore, it is significant to ensure information systems security. Information system
security concerns the processes and practices for ensuring the availability of reliable and accurate
information by restricting unauthorized access of confidential data and maintaining the integrity
of digital data. In the contemporary world, information systems security is one of the major
challenges facing the society (Stair & Reynolds, 2017). Apparently, the use of information
technology is increasingly becoming an integral element of daily life in homes, government
institutions, businesses, and other organizations. The applicability of information systems in
different areas increases the need for the systems. In fact, the use of information systems is

increasingly becoming inevitable. In this regard, ensuring information systems security is critical
for the development and growth of the society. Information systems make work easier while
performing tasks faster with a high degree of accuracy and reliability of the results. Further,
information systems allow for the processing of different tasks simultaneously. This paper
examines the information systems security concerns with the aim to provide solutions for the
reliability of the systems.
Information Security Concerns
The modern day issues facing information systems occur through computer abuse or
computer crime. It is apparent that the most common security issue involving the information
security is unauthorized access of electronic information through hacking and other strategies as
this document explicates. Firstly, the modern society is increasingly facing cybersecurity. It is
apparent that most of the organizations and individuals are experiencing attacks by unauthorized
individuals. For instance, the terrorists are increasingly hacking the surveillance and military
installations. Hacking is unauthorized access of electronic information. While military and
surveillance installations are critical to the security of the citizens and the operations of the
government forces, the hackers through creativity are attempting to access the security details of
a particular country held by the military.
Besides hacking of security details held by the military, other hackers are attempting the
access of patient's and doctor's information held by the electronic health records. In fact, the
major concern of the doctors for refraining from the implementation of the electronic health
record system is the security of the systems. However, installation of the electronic health
systems has improved operations in the health sector that improved security measures to
safeguard the data and information concerning the patients and doctors, ensures the smooth
