Narrative on the Best Day of My Life
The best of my life was when I got a new pet during my last birthday celebration. The
new pet was a dog, and I named it ‘Tom.' It was a gift from my grandmother meant to replace
Cindy, my earlier pet that had been killed in a road accident. On the day that Cindy died, I had
gone been out walking her when I noticed a toddler who had wandered from a park to the road.
The toddler had crawled and was almost midway crossing the road, and from a distance, I could
hear an ambulance siren approaching fast. So I let go of the leash of Cindy and rushed to the
middle of the road to pick up the toddler.
After I picked the toddler, I turned back to get out of the road and that it when I had
sounds of bones crushing behind me. I, however, did not look back until after I was out of the
road because the ambulance was a few meters from us and it was speeding. On reaching the side
of the road, I turned back to look at what I had heard only to find Cindy lying dead on the center
of the road. Cindy had followed me to the road, and it was hit by a car after it fell behind picking
the shoe of the toddler.
Four months later and it is my birthday. I have forgotten Cindy and moved on. I
organized a party and invited my friends and cousins to come and celebrate. My sister helped me
plan the party. My sister and I started preparing for the party three days before the actual day.
Since my birthday was on a school day, it meant that the party could only happen after school in
the evening.
Every day, for the three days that we were planning the party my sister and I would rush
home after school to go shopping. We would get home and take my mother's van and go to the
store to get supplies for my birthday party. My sister and I are in the same school but in different
classes and sometimes it is difficult to see each other at school. For the three days, however, we
arranged a meeting point where I would meet my sister and rush home together. On the second
day, my sister and I went to the bakery and ordered a cake. We gave our description of how we
wanted the cake to taste and look.
On the third day, we went to the grocery store to get food. My mother had insisted that
food is prepared in the party so that everybody who came left satisfied. On the third day, we got
from school an hour late and took the van as usual...
