Risk Management Plan Final Project Submission

Business Continuity Plan (BCP)

After having reviewed and being impressed by your business impact analysis (BIA), senior management at Health Network has decided that your team must also develop a BCP. Management has allocated all funds for a BCP and your team has their full support, as well as permission to contact any of them directly for participation or inclusion in your BCP plan. You have been assigned to develop this new plan.

Winter storms on the East Coast have affected the ability of Health Network employees to reach the Arlington offices in a safe and timely manner. However, no BCP plan currently exists to address corporate operations. The Arlington office is the primary location for business units, such as Finance, Legal, and Customer Support. Some of the corporate systems, such as the payroll and accounting applications, are located only in the corporate offices. Each corporate location is able to access the other two, and remote virtual private network (VPN) exist between each Production data center and the corporate locations.

The corporate systems are not currently being backed up and should be addressed in the new plan. The BCP should also include some details regarding how the BCP will be tested.

You may refer to the following additional resources to help you and your team develop a BCP, and you may use a BCP template if found during your research.

Running Head: RISK MANAGEMENT BUSINESS CONTINUITY PLAN

Introduction
The main core aim of every business set up is to make as many profits as possible. However, in
the course of attaining this great objective, most businesses are subject or are faced with potential
threats or untold occurrences which may either be positive or negative. A positive occurrence
could be for instance a surprise money influx from external sources which could be a boost to
any business operations since they all need money to operate smoothly. Negative occurrences
could include fires, floods, network disruption, data loss etc. all these occurrences both positive
and negative will have an impact on the operations of a business. It is, therefore, necessary to
take precautionary measures that are aimed at giving directions regarding a particular
occurrence. A business continuity plan document is therefore used to maintain records for untold
occurrences. In most cases, this document is used to record negative occurrences which may
cripple down a business in case they happen.
Purpose of this Business Continuity Plan
This business continuity plan has been developed to provide a solution to the ever
unpredicted natural factor occurrence that is being experienced on the East Coast whereby the
winter storms curtail the ability of the Health Network employees reach their offices in a safe
and timely manner. This plan will act as a course of action which will be implemented by the
company to help address this issue so that the employees can be able to get to their offices on
time and in a safe manner. It will also provide policies and framework or guideline to address
and respond to the network disruptions which is consequentially affecting the core services of the
company.
