Context

Change is managed in various ways in different contexts. For this first case assignment, you will examine how change is managed in a particular organization or condition.

Case Assignment

Select one of the following assignments for this module:

Option 1: Forces that affect education

Scott suggests that there are contemporary forces that are now driving changes in education.

Prepare a 3- to 5-page paper with an additional page for references in which you:

• Discuss different change models and how different models of change might address some of the contemporary forces described by Scott.

The content of your report is to demonstrate your grasp of the concepts, change and the bottom line of the change, presented in the assigned reading.

• Identify an educational organization or context that is undergoing change. Two examples are provided below. You may use either of these examples or choose a different organization for consideration.

Describe how change is managed within that context.

Explain how models of change are represented in the case and how change is assessed.

Option 3: The Bologna Model of Higher Education

The articles by Birtwistle (2008), Brookes (2009), and Pausits (2009) in the background readings section describe the European Bologna Model of higher education.

Prepare a 3- to 5-page paper with an additional page for references in which you:

• Describe the Bologna Model.

Compare and contrast the Bologna Model with American models of higher education.

Explain strengths and weaknesses of each system.
