a) Function and purpose of the Chargemaster administrative system
The Chargemaster is an administrative system that allows the hospital to have an allinclusive listing of things billable to a patient or the health insurance provider of the patient.
According to Bai and Anderson (2016) in practice, it generally has prices that are highly inflated in
most occasions than the actual hospital charges. Its function is to allow the health insurance
provider and the patient to understand the amount of money the hospital gets to cover the hospital
services the patient used. Its main purpose is being a hospital’s central mechanism for revenue
cycle. It is connected to the information system of hospitals to ensure billing regulations by the
