Explain Why the Incumbents Tend To Have an Advantage in the Electoral Process
United States of America has a unique process of electing leaders to represent views of
American citizens. Incumbency is associated with a lot of advantages in the United States. The
structure of politics in the country does give law makers more executive powers and privileges as
compared to political candidates seeking for office work for the first time (Petrova et al. 2017).
This has always created a conducive environment for incumbents such as governors to go for
two terms as required by the constitution. Political office bearers have always capitalized on the
advantage of their position to influence elections by persuading people about their performance
records. They always besiege voters to give them final time to complete the projects they had
initiated. This privilege is not common among those who are not office bearers during times of
elections (Petrova et al. 2017).
Incumbents are always popular among the electorates. This is always favorable for them
as they ride of on the waves of their state if being known among the voters. Therefore, it
