Childhood obesity in Low Income communities
Question Description
I will be posting my revised thesis, all feedbacks are welcome to aide in the reconstruction if possible. the revised thesis is as follows: The children from the city of Jamaica to whom are of low incomes families, are far more likely to suffer from childhood obesity due to the lack of supermarket availability, due to affordability of nutritious food and lack of parental supervision,
The key terms I have searched for would be childhood obesity and the impact it has on families living in a tight budget. The underrepresented perspective would be the children who are affected by obesity and the toll it takes on them whether it be mentally, physical and or psychologically. I will also include parents experiences along with the children's experiences The article I chose is “Poverty and obesity: Breaking the Link”. This article talks about families with limited economic resources, may turn to food with poor nutritional quality because it is cheaper and more accessible. Furthermore, many low income communities lack access to fresh and fruits and vegetables. It clearly indicates that low income communities are swamped with fast-food restaurant and corners stores that are stocked in products that are high in fat and low in nutrients instead of supermarkets. This issue, I can relate to, as I have nieces and nephews who are affected by obesity.
Class, please let me know what I need to expound on. Constructive criticism are welcome
