Atlanta Technical College Children Planning and Development Discussion
Essay 3: Research Paper Planning & Drafting ENG 102 Up to this point, you have carefully gathered, evaluated, analyzed, summarized, assessed, and reflected upon your research sources. It is now time to begin drafting the research essay. This assignment will guide you through the planning and drafting processes for your research paper, and will allow you to receive instructor feedback before submitting the final draft of your research project. MLA style and formatting is required (both in-text and works cited entries are required).Assignment RequirementsThis assignment must include the following three sections to be considered complete:Section 1: Select a substantial portion of your research paper to draft and insert into the assignment. This could be any portion of the essay, as long as you are sure to include a thesis statement for my review: for example, you might include the introduction and following body paragraphs, the body paragraphs/support from which you are going to build the rest of the essay, or the last several paragraphs of your research paper including the conclusion. This section should be 2 full pages, not including the Works Cited page. Supporting evidence from at least 2 of your sources should be incorporated and properly documented both within the text and on the Works Cited page.Section 2: After you have inserted the rough draft of your research paper, write a paragraph explaining what part of your research paper you are working with and what you hope the reader takes away from it. This section should be one paragraph long.Section 3: In a final paragraph, discuss what you are going to do in the writing and editing process to complete your research paper. You may want to anticipate the following questions in your discussion: What do I have left to write? How can I improve the drafted portion of my paper? What kind of information do I need to include to finalize the paper? Do I need more sources? How will I focus the remaining paragraphs? This section should be one paragraph long. The goal of this assignment is to allow you to begin drafting the research paper in a meaningful way so that the full and final product is as complete and polished as possible.Rules for formal and academic writing apply to the preview. Please note that the 2 page portion of your research paper will be graded according to our essay rubric and should be as polished as possible. (Note: First person point-of-view is allowed in the final two discussion paragraphs.) A sample student essay is attached here to help you visualize the parts of this assignment. Use this as an example and a guide for structuring this essay. Essay 3 Checklist:Before submitting the final version of this assignment, be sure your work includes:A polished draft of a substantial portion of your research paper, including a clearly stated thesis (this portion should equal 2 full pages of text, not including the Works Cited page)Supporting evidence from at least 2 of your sources must be incorporated into the polished draft; sources should be documented both within the text and on a Works Cited pageAn explanatory paragraph that describes the placement and purpose of the drafted materialA final paragraph in which you discuss your projected direction for the rest of the essay

Utilitarianism & Kantianism in Boomerang Movie by Ellia Kazan Discussion
This paper should be 2-3 pages. All references should be properly documented. Using MLA guidelines, properly document any references or ideas that are not your own. WARRNING: DO NOT USE WIKIPEDIA IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. WIKIPEDIA IS NOT A LEGITIMATE SOURCE. ANY USE OF WIKIPEDIA WILL RESULT IN A GRADE OF ZERO. USE ONLY TRUE PROFESSIONAL SOURCES. The purpose of this paper is for you to intellectually explore a topic, issue, problem, or figure relevant to our course material. The readings from our course should be the primary “source” that you utilize. Practice standards of good writing. Have a clear thesis. Devise evidence for your thesis. Make a sound, logically constructed argument. Proofread vigorously. Correct English grammar is expected.Topics: choose one(1) What theory of the meaning of life, as presented in our text (chapter 10), do you find most compelling. Why? (Hint: Think about any of the figures discussed, Tolstoy, Stace, Russell, Camus, Nagel, as well as the film Amelie (2001) by Jean-Pierre Jeunet.)(2) After Reading chapter 9, consider the film Boomerang!, (1947) by Elia Kazan. How does this film argue in favor of Kantianism and radically against Utilitarianism? Consider the readings in our text. Use your own mind to formulate a response. (Hints: Think about Kant’s view of persons and the respect that we owe them as members of the moral community. Think of the accused man and the district attorney's decision to defend him. What possible consequences might the district attorney face by defending the innocence of the accused? Why would Kant recommend such a defense? Why would Utilitarian recommend against such a defense.)(3) After reading chapter 8, consider the film Detour (1945) by Edgar Ulmer. Is Al Roberts a victim of “moral luck” (--as described in chapter 8 of our text--)? Are the arguments for moral luck strong or weak? Is there any sense in which Moral Luck might be legitimate? How is it a threat to ethical theorizing in general? (Hint: Think about the notion of moral responsibility and the conditions that are typically required for full responsibility. Think of Al’s situation. How much is he to “blame” for his predicament?)

FIDELITY CHECKLISTS
Overview
The effectiveness of an intervention plan is greatly impacted by its consistent and accurate implementation, and as supervisors, it is our role to ensure that those who implement our plans do so with fidelity. Fidelity checks are a way to assess the delivery of the intervention plan and can be measured through direct observation, self-report, and permanent products. In this assignment, you will create a fidelity checklist.
Refer to your treatment plan developed in your PSY7712/PSY7713 coursework. Identify one procedure within that plan that you would teach a behavior technician to implement (e.g. noncontingent reinforcement, functional communication training, preference assessment, positive reinforcement). Develop a fidelity checklist based on the criteria necessary for the behavior technician to effectively implement your selected procedure. You will then discuss how fidelity checks impact intervention outcomes.
