There is not necessarily a right answer, but there may be several alternatives that lead to varying outcomes. The quality of analysis will depend upon application of theory learned in the classroom and through research.
  4. Make recommendations. Choose the recommendation you believe to be the best, justify it, and develop it. Recommendations may be made in the form of an action plan to solve the problem or issue. Or, recommendations may involve the choice of the best alternative for resolving the issue or problem. Recommendations made must be thoroughly developed and supported.

Executive Summary
Akron Children’s Hospital is a healthcare organization that operates in a very competitive
industry in Northeastern Ohio. The organization mainly provides child healthcare services. The
hospital has been focusing all its resources towards the well-being of every child. The hospital has
adopted a strategy of positioning itself by service differentiation.
Case Synopsis
Due to the high competition, the organization faces in the children health care services, the
company has realized that its market share is not growing. This has, therefore, prompted the
organization to carry out a research on how to position itself thus increasing its market share.
Methodology
After researching on the competitor’s message and established they use high-tech
capabilities to create emotions among the audience, Akron Children’s Hospital has further opted
to use focus groups and surveys in its research. Three markets were chosen where the focus groups
were aimed at understanding the perception of the audience in their hospital selection decisions.
Surveys were conducted by telephone with an aim of evaluating the audience’s awareness about
the hospitals’ brand as communicated in the adverts and other information sources.
Findings and Conclusions
The research that was conducted helped the Akron Children’s Hospital to understand how
well they can appeal to their audience and convince them towards selecting their hospital for their
children’s healthcare. It was established that the hospital selection decision of the audience was

influenced by their emotions. It is therefore concluded that proper communication strategies will

will allow them to pass influential messages to prospective clients as well as retain the existing
ones. When the audience has knowledge about the services and capabilities offered by the hospital,
they will tend to be loyal clients. It is also recommended research should be conducted
continuously in order ensure that any changes in the market are noticed as they appear. Lastly, a
database of clients will help in conducting the surveys and follow-ups hence should be kept.
