Sustainable Eating is a Way to Good Life Sustainable living and eating has been an exceptionally important part of humans. To learn it is also getting significant. Through the previous learning, we have obtained a lot of related knowledge and it is getting changing my own life. After reviewing the chapters I have learned, I realized that there are some items that most of us should pay great attention and use them in our daily life. In the following paragraphs, I would explain what I have learned in details and use my own experiences to illustrate how what I have learned is changing my life. To begin with, it is necessary to know that the most important concepts for sustainable living and eating are sustainability, disordered eating, the modern food system. Simply speaking, sustainability refers to the living styles that use the natural products and energy without wasting or harming to the environment. In the textbook, it means humans should eat in a proper way, which would not only benefit to people but also the environment. Then, “disordered eating can be overconsumption of calories, under consumption, or even a zealous fixation on eating clean” (Lisa Schmidt & Maria Napoli, 2015, p. 3). It is also the main reason for obesity. the modern food system is resulted from the great change of economy of the world. As the world gets industrialized, people began to change their views on foods and food system. In this system, people disconnect themselves from the nature, plants, and animals. Actually, all of the concepts I mentioned is about a kind of relationship, which is relationship between humans and nature. If humans can find ways to stay harmonious state with nature, many problems would naturally be solve. When having learned the related knowledge about sustainable living and eating, we need to use the knowledge in our daily life. Taking myself as an example, the knowledge I have learned is really helpful with my daily mindfulness practice. I like eating noodles, and I would ask my mother to give me a full bowl of rice when we were eating. However, for too many times, I could not eat up, and then food was wasted. Now, I would go to kitchen and have a small bowl, which avoids me wasting too much. Besides, when eating meat now, I would not hesitate before, but now I just eat meat once a month. My doctor also told me I am heathier than before. I think it is the merits of eating less meat. When I wash clothes now, I would also pay attention to the amount of water I use now. In a word, the knowledge I have learned is really changing my living style and helps me to be healthier. Then, the materials on healthy living and eating we learned can also offer us tips to manage stress effectively. Information we have learned shows that in modern society, too many people like to eat high-calorie foods. However, there are so many reports have suggested that highcalories foods are not easy to be digested. As a result, physical and psychological stress come. Hence, I would try to eat foods with low-calories is good to release stress. Also, in these chapter, it can be found that food energies do matter, and good selection of foods would helpful to reduce stress. According to this information, I would be careful enough when eating and regard eating as a way to release my stress. Having learned the chapters, I began to change my minds on foods, plants, animals, nature and the environment. In the modern era when many people have enough food without thinking of the fact that foods ever were used to survive. Still, there are also some people in back areas and poor countries have to endure the lack of foods. However, if those who have too much to eat can eat properly, they would be healthier and a great amount of people would be saved. Besides, sustainability is getting significant now. Good environment and nature are the basis for the progress of humans. However, disasters now are getting more, and nature is punishing humans in its own way. If humans continue to act in a wrong way, some day they would have no food to eat and no place to go. Finally, I have to mention a word of the textbook we are using, which is “once we notice, we have the opportunity to change”. If all of us could realize it, all around us would change in a better way.amount of people would be saved. Besides, sustainability is getting significant now.
