Introduction
An advanced practice registered (APRN) is denoted as a licensed nurse through a state
board of nursing and who is supposed to provide sufficient patient care within their role. In many
countries, APRNs are allowed to act independently in regard to their expertise and in their
independent responsibilities they can even prescribe medications (NGA, 2012). The international
council of nurses claims that APRN is a registered nurse and who has proved to be clinically
competent, has the required and expert knowledge in nursing as well as a nurse with complex
decision-making skills (NGA, 2012). This paper aims at making use of the Florida and Colorado
scope of their APRN practices as well as digging deep to understand them.
In Colorado, the nurse practitioners (NPs) are perceived as the primary care providers. In
Colorado, NPs have to comply with the state’s specific regulations. The state’s licensure laws
