Description

Wireless topology: Wireless communication, generally, uses three configuration topologies (1) point to point; (2) point to multipoint; and (3) multi-point to point. In this paper, (a) define each topology, (b) provide a scenario for using each topology, and (c) identify at least one disadvantage of using each topology. Introduction

Network topology has an important role to play in any given network setup without
which a network may fail to be established. In information technology, when two computer
resources or computers are linked to each other, a topology is automatically formed. Therefore,
topology refers to the study of the arrangement of components over a communication network.
Wireless networks work on unguided media and this contributes to its nature of limited
topologies during the configuration process and setup of wireless networks.
There are three major configuration topologies which are used in wireless
communication. They are: point to point, point to multipoint and multipoint to point. An
understanding of these configuration topologies enhances the ability of computer users to know
how computers are connected and interact with each other without a physical connection or
cables. This paper discusses the major configuration topologies used in wireless communication
and identifies the disadvantage of each topology. Besides, a scenario where each topology is
used wil...
