Throughout this course, you have viewed the "Diary of Medical Mission Trip" videos dealing with the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti in 2010. Reflect on this natural disaster by answering the following questions:
- Propose one example of a nursing intervention related to the disaster from each of the following levels: primary prevention, secondary prevention, and tertiary prevention. Provide innovative examples that have not been discussed by a previous student.

First, I feel when you say that Haiti could not have prepared for the disaster, it is a misleading
aspect because any country needs to be able to predict and prepare for disasters; natural or
human-made. One of the overlooked elements is the mitigation phase, which is then followed by
reconstruction. In disasters, there is also a need to mobilize resources and work with other
governments and international bodies, and Haiti would stand to again, or what do you think?

I agree with the statement of formulating policies when anticipating any disasters. However, a
nurse is supposed to be a primary caretaker in the health sector, and matters of policy are
supposed to be cumulative, and thus requiring different agencies. The emphasis should be on
