I believe that self-concept and self-esteem affect our ability to communicate with others. Four instance, if somebody is experiencing low self-esteem, he can lead to a less motivating and interactive conversation. Opposite to that, if somebody has high self-esteem, the conversation can be very motivating and uplifting. Our ability to interact with in the conversation is also affected by how we are feeling. Even what we are talking about is dictated by how we feel and how we perceive others and ourselves. Personally, when I am tired or feeling down, I know I don’t really want to hold a conversation with someone. But outside of feeling down or tired, I am usually talkative and can hold a conversation. To conclude, I believe that self-concept and self-esteem can have either a negative or positive impact in our communication abilities.
