HIST 1302 The University of Texas at Arlington American Yawp Test Questions
Untest 2 chapter 19, 20 and 21 American Yawp. UNTEST 2 chapter 19, 20 and 21 American YawpThis is an open note/material/resource assignment. You may discuss all you want about the Unit through Piazza, but this assignment is to be your own original work. All unit Untests will utilize the following format.PART I. MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS – 20 points totalIn this section, you must create FOUR quality multiple choice questions over the basic facts of the unit. Create questions over key pieces of historical fact that are the most important for the overall understanding of unit materials. Questions can be over concepts, ideas, people, places, events, etc. The question should be meaningful and not a “gotcha” or trick question to see how close someone read. Your correct and incorrect answers should be clearly identified (you should have a minimum of 4 answers per question) and a test taker should have to stop and consider the answers carefully.Once you have crafted your four question and provided four answers to choose from (identify your correct answer), you must then explain the question. Why did you think this question was important enough to be on your imaginary exam? Why is the correct answer correct and the incorrect answers wrong? Why did you choose the answers that you did? Do this for each of the four questions.II. KEY ID – 20 pointsIn this section, you must create ONE ID for a test. IDs are key people, places, events, or concepts (so “George Washington” or “trickle-down economics” for example). For each ID you will provide a sample answer (explaining the who/what, where, when, and why it is important). After providing your ID and sample answer, you will then need to explain why you chose this ID for the list, what makes it so key that it should appear on your imaginary test?III. CONNECTIONS – 20 pointsA connection is just that, an explanation of how two or more historical facts fit together. Here is a non-history example that will give you an idea of what is expected:Fact 1: Men’s College football teams at the NCAA I FBS level can award a maximum of 85 scholarships to playersFact 2: The US Women’s National Team has just won the World Cup for the 4th time and has played in 5 of the 8 Women’s World Cup finals and US National Women’s Teams dominate Olympic competitions (Soccer, Softball, Ice Hockey, Volleyball, Rowing, Water Polo).Connection: Title IX (of the Educational Amendments of 1972) legislation requires gender equity in both the classroom and school related activities at both the K-12 and collegiate level. At the time Title IX became law, women’s sports in schools and colleges was often underfunded or non-existent while men’s college football (and high school football in states like Texas) had money thrown at them. The law requires that men and women have proportional access to athletic scholarships at the collegiate level. Since most NCAA I level universities field large men’s football teams, they needed to field teams in women’s sports to remain in proportional compliance (you have to offset those 85 male players somehow). Therefore, high schools and colleges began fielding teams in quite a few different sports to be in compliance with Title IX and more American women began playing team sports. Today, the national averages are 1 in every 2.5 women play a sport in high school. The best of these female athletes now go on to play college sports, and national teams are pulled from the best of college athletes. Women have come to dominate Olympic Team Sports because American women have gender equity in team sports in high schools and colleges thanks to Title IX; few other countries have gender equity in sporting opportunities, particularly at the team level, for girls through schools and fewer girls play team sports in other parts of the world. For this part of the Untest, I want you to make ONE connections from the time period covered in the unit. The facts should be different facts (not two sides of an issue, battle, debate, etc.) that may not seemingly be connected, but are. List the two historical facts and then explain the connection.IV. Geographic Connections – 20 pointsA geographic connection is similar to the connections above, except that at least one of the facts is related to geography, climate, or environment. (Remember the discussion of how geography and history are related). You need to make 1 geographic connectionsV. Overall Takeaway – 20 pointsThis is an “un-essay.” Instead of giving you a prompt and having you write a full-length essay, I want you to sit back and think about the unit as a whole. What are your key takeaways (these are the most important overall themes of the units)? How would you explain these most important “big picture” concepts of American history? How would you explain this in a paragraph (think of this as a two-minute elevator speech on US History to someone who knows nothing about the subject).Note that your paragraph (which should be 100-200 words) should follow rule of three formatting and contain a thesis statement and supporting evidence.

Prokaryotes in Society Essay
Part 1: Initial Blog Post on Prokaryotes in SocietyProkaryotic organisms like bacteria and archaea have a variety roles in society from causing foodborne illnesses (i.e. Salmonella, E.coli and Listeria), being involved in symbiotic relationships (Rhizobium and nitrogen fixation) and they have medicinal purposes (i.e. production of antibodies) to name a few. For Week 1, after you have completed the readings (Chapters 14 – 17 and specifically Chapter 17), research the internet and use reliable and credible scientific resources to investigate a specific prokaryotic organism (a bacterial or archaea species) and discuss it and its role within society.Write a full paragraph (a 150-words minimum) for your initial blog post discussing a specific species of prokaryotic organism and the role it has within society. Be sure to describe what the prokaryotic species is. Where is it found? How does it interact with humans and/or other species (i.e. harmful, beneficial or mutualistic relationship) ? What role does it play in the ecosystem, etc.? Also required within the initial blog post is sharing the website (specific URL) and what you have learned from this resource and/or have found particularly helpful when reviewing the website. Do not copy and paste directly from the website. This blog should be written in your own words. Any content and paraphrased information from the resource (URL) must be properly cited per APA including the specific URL (website) you are recommending.

RE: SOCW6351-(WK10) Discussion Question 1 and 2
Advocacy for social and economic justice is an ethical responsibility of all social workers. The social workers need to analyze policies from many different aspects, anticipate unintended consequences, and educate legislators, stakeholders, and the population on policy issues. This requires a specialized skill set, and this week’s Assignments will provide you with some of these skills. This week, you examine social policies and analyze how they are evaluated. You also examine the role of lobbying and campaigning in social work practice. Finally, you explore the steps for incorporating policy in social work practice that reflects professional ethics. Discussion 1: Policy Analysis and Application According to the NASW Code of Ethics section 6.04 (NASW, 2008), social workers are ethically bound to work for policies that support the healthy development of individuals, guarantee equal access to services, and promote social and economic justice. For this Discussion, review this week’s resources, including Working with Survivors of Sexual Abuse and Trauma: The Case of Rita and “The Johnson Family”. Consider what change you might make to the policies that affect the client in the case you chose. Finally, think about how you might evaluate the success of the policy changes. Post an explanation of one change you might make to the policies that affect the client in the case. Be sure to reference the case you selected in your post. Finally, explain how you might evaluate the success of the policy changes. Discussion 2: The Social Work Advocate in Politics Social workers often have commitments to specific policies, laws, or funding of programs that are vital to the population they serve or an issue that they strongly support. Such commitments often lead social workers to become involved in political issues and the campaigns of specific candidates. Being a social worker, such campaign experiences, the outcomes of your efforts, and how effective you felt you were may affect your view of the political process and the likelihood of becoming involved in similar campaigns in the future. For this Discussion, reflect on your experiences if you have ever participated in a political campaign. What was the outcome of your participation? If you have not participated in a campaign, choose a campaign topic you support or oppose and consider the ways you might like to participate in that campaign. Likewise, think about your experiences if you have ever lobbied on a topic. If you have not, choose a topic for which you might like to lobby in favor or against. Finally, consider how you think social workers might have a powerful and positive effect as elected officials. Post an explanation of the role of lobbying and campaigning in social work practice. Then, explain how you think social workers might have a powerful and positive effect as elected officials. Finally, explain of the impact, if any, the experiences and opinions of your colleagues have had on your own experiences and opinions.ReferencePopple, P. R., & Leighninger, L. (2015). I have been blessed to have several mentors in my life who have been incredibly influential. One such mentor was my college professor, a strong and inspiring woman who pushed me to be the best version of myself and to never give up. She taught me the importance of dedication and hard work, and her guidance and support helped me develop the confidence I needed to succeed. Her dedication to my growth and success was clear from the start. She was always available to listen and offer guidance and advice, and she was willing to go the extra mile to ensure that I was on the right path. What made her such a positive influence was her genuine care for my wellbeing and progress. She was always available to listen, offer advice, and provide encouragement. She was an invaluable mentor who had a profound impact on my life. She not only helped me develop my skills and knowledge, but also motivated and encouraged me to become the best version of myself. After watching this video and reflecting on my experiences, I am determined to become a better mentor, both professionally and personally. I strive to be more understanding, available, and approachable for those I mentor and take the time to listen actively, offer meaningful advice and guidance, and provide the necessary support to help others reach their goals. I will also make sure to be honest and direct, yet compassionate, and to always show respect for my mentees' ideas and decisions. I plan to be more committed to creating an environment of mutual respect and trust and will strive to make the most of each mentoring relationship.801 DB 1 RESPONSES
DB #1 Initial post-Bharati Case
by Arleen Downer - Thursday, 23 March 2023, 1:36 AM
Bharti Airtel, an Indian multinational telecommunications company, faced unexpected challenges in acquiring the African assets of Zain Telecom in 2010 (Palepu & BijLani, 2012. p. 1). Founded in India in 1995, Bharti Airtel altered the worldwide communications industry norms. Bharti's possession was one of the strategic movements for international growth. Gupta argued that redistributes the “company to focus on marketing and client acquisition while improving service quality, from network availability to customer care”. (Palepu & BijLani, 2012. p.4). Bharti concluded Africa would be a country of interest because of its large population. Little did he know of the many impediments that awaited him. One of the main challenges was the complex regulatory environment in many African countries, making it difficult for Bharti to obtain licenses and operate its network.
Additionally, the chief competitor’s success growth was evident in the market, the infrastructure needed to be improved, and it was difficult to provide reliable service to customers, the greater risk of financial loss with the already outstanding loan. Mittal wondered if this possession would be affordable or worth the trouble if Bharti continued with its India plan in Africa, investing in rural networks and slashing tariffs (Palepu & BijLani, 2012. Pgs. 1-2).
Regardless of the challenges, Bharti focused primarily on prepaid consumers to gain access to the low-income sector. They reasoned that doing so would eliminate the need for costly billing, lower the chance of delinquency, and provide the corporation with cash up front. Bharti relied on a network of mom-and-pop businesses nationwide, to leverage his communication network, not limited to grocery stores, mobile repair shops, and other small businesses to attract clients with Airtel SIM cards and prepaid recharge cards at an affordable cost (Palepu & BijLani, 2012. pg 4). Ultimately, Bharti made unusual alliances to expand its retail network.

While looking for newer opportunities and wanting to penetrate new markets, Bharti Airtel acquired the 15 African operations of Bahrain-based Zain telecom. While entering the African market, they had big plans to become the telecom market leader in Africa, just like they did in India. The techniques involved increasing mobile phone use and driving growth in mobile adoption using a low-cost telecom model with significantly reduced tariffs.
While they had these big plans for the African market and set goals of making profits, they encountered many unexpected challenges. First, the cost of doing business in Africa was higher than anticipated. Even though the cost of running the business was supposed to be low, other factors influenced the rising cost, such as poor infrastructures and road networks which limited the movement of goods and services from one location to another. In addition, transporting expatriates from one place to another was a challenge because of poor flight connections, leading them to spend more money and time getting to a destination. Due to a lack of electricity and poor infrastructure, mobile networks were inferior in most rural communities, making customers complain and opt to use competitors' networks. Despite these costs, mobile phone use did not increase as much as they wanted. Growing up in Nigeria, I remember many people could not afford phones even when airtel entered the market. It was not mainly about the networks but the phone itself to use. Airtel's challenge was also due to the low socioeconomic status of people in most African countries.
Another challenge was a short supply of skilled workers. According to the article, people with the required expertise needed to carry out the jobs were rare and, most times came at a very high rate compared to their Indian counterparts. This made them get Indian experts to move down to Africa and help set up the business. Also, cultural differences were another challenge that Bharti Airtel faced. For example, people in India preferred to put in long hours, while people in Africa loved to have a balance between work and their personal lives.

Important Mentor in my life
by Lynval Clayton-Rowe - Thursday, 23 March 2023, 12:31 AM
Everyone needs help directing them in the right direction to attain specific life goals. Karen Russel’s talk on mentorship focused on her dad, Bill Russell, a Basketball Legend.
She mentioned other possible mentors such as Michael Jordan, Lebron (King James) James, and the late and great Dr. Maya Angelo. One remarkable comment Karen made that stood out to me was that her father encouraged her to mentor three people because “two might not make it” is a humble way to position one’s hope. We mentor intending to make positive change, but at the same time, while we should remain hopeful, the reality is that not all times our mentoring will become fruitful.
My dad, the late Dr. Ivor Rowe, MD, was my most incredible mentor of all time; while he was an astute man, he rarely mentioned his profession to others who asked him. Instead, he referred to himself as “a servant of God,” with him being a Bishop. Reflecting on my dad and how I watched him mentor me, I hope I make him proud even though he is no longer here with us. I often hear his still voice say things like: “son, people will talk, but never give them things to talk about if it is going to make you feel ashamed of yourself.” Completing the DHA program would be a big win for me, as it will help empower me to continue to be the change that many of our younger scholars dream of and help me achieve my goal of mentoring.

The tricky of social and political evolution is dissected in depth in the book titled "How Change happens." The author gives an outline that may be used to explain how things change on a societal as well as a personal scale. Despite the unpredictability of the shift, it is critical to take stock, educate oneself, and adjust accordingly.
The acronym PESTEL stands for the components governmental, financial, social, technological, and environmental engineering. PESTEL Analysis serves as a tool for conducting a comprehensive examination and evaluation of the external factors that have an impact on the way in which a business runs and the level of success it achieves. A PESTEL when developing a strategic plan, executives may identify political unrest as a risk and then construct a plan to mitigate the risk by diversifying their activities or cultivating ties with critical stakeholders. In the future, when my company is through a change, I may make use of PESTEL Analysis to determine hazards and chances, as well as to devise strategies for mitigating such threats and possibilities.
