Traditions and heritage are what makes us stand out as humans. Traditions basically
involve passing on information, customs, legends, beliefs, and statements down from one
generation to another either by practice or mouth. Heritage, on the other hand, is beliefs or
traditions that belong to a certain group of people by birth. Both form a culture shared by the
respective groups. They, therefore, blend in different cultures from different communities and
help us associate with one another in a friendly and sometimes in an unfriendly manner. Various
authors and artists are usually inspired by heritage and traditions. Based on this, some people
therefore argue that their work should remain in public domain while others argue that they
should get copyright protection as a way of protecting their work and also spread their derivative
works. This paper therefore is going to support the fact that all the people including the authors
and artists who have been inspired by heritage and traditions should get copyright protection
from the government as a way of protecting their derivative works and also spreading awareness
