In "A Good Man is Hard to Find" by O'Connor, the definition of a "good" man and a
"good woman" has been articulated clearly.
•
The confrontation between the grandmother and Misfit portrays a superficial and worldly
sense of goodness.
•
According to the grandmother, being "a good woman" involves having good manners,
dressing decent, and coming from a "family of good people" (O'Connor, 1977).

This suggests that one dressing code that dictates the goodness and badness on an
individual.

The definition of "a good man" or "a good woman" according to grandmother is
superficial with one's appearances above all else.

"A good man" is a person who is dressing descent and who does not kill a lady.

In "Everyday Use" by Walker, the three major symbols use include two quilts, butter
