Description
Introduction
Supervisors must evaluate employees, resolve conflicts, keep the workplace safe, and handle the constantly changing environment. Supervisors must develop the ability to detect emerging opportunities and their value in the workplace. The criteria chosen to appraise performance will have a major influence on what employees do.
The foundation of the performance appraisal process is the concept that performance standards are clearly identified. This fundamental fact implies that, to perform effectively, workers must know and understand what is expected of them. This concept, however, applies only where clear job descriptions and specifications exist. In other words, conventional performance appraisals have been designed to fit the needs of the traditional organization, but what happens when the organization is far from traditional?
Instructions
