Description

I have attached the first assignment you did for me in week one. I do not know if you need it. Please see below for instruction. I will post another one for presentation.

Every organization conducts research to plan and implement a business idea. The final project for this course is designed to provide the foundation for an international business plan. These activities offer flexibility for many settings related to global business enterprises. The framework may be used for planning global expansion of an existing product or service, or may be used to research a new foreign business opportunity. Each module of this course is designed to gather information for one component of an international business plan.

This is a two-part assignment. First, select one (1) country and (1) product that will be used to develop the GBP. You will complete each section of the GBP and provide a macro level abstract which doesn't exceed 5 pages and included an bibliography.

An abstract is a written summary of the work that a student completes and formally presents. The purpose of the abstract is to offer a brief summary which gives an overview of the work or project that you will be presenting. It:

  • Explains the value of one’s project or presentation.
  • Demonstrates an individual’s knowledge of the subject.
  • Provides additional details that the student might not have been able to cover on its oral/narrated presentation.

The abstract is similar to a brief paper. You should include an introduction that outlines or details the background of your project and the purpose. Please note, "required final class project" should not be the purpose mentioned in the abstract. Also, provide a summary of your findings based on the research you performed. Finally, draft a conclusion that outlines what is your final decision buy/make, the reason for your decision and what you learned in general. You will end with a bibliography. Running head: THE BOEING COMPANY 1 The Boeing Company Maryville University Junwei Xu 9/9/2018 THE BOEING COMPANY 2 The Boeing Company The Boeing Company is one of the largest companies in the world. The company has been in operation since 1916 when William Boeing first founded it. The company began by proving planes for the military that they could use in the World War. It was a significant market because the military could order planes in large numbers and as a result, they made the company to be successful in the first years of operations. They later diversified and begun making commercial aircraft which have nor formed the core part of the business. The commercial jets is now the largest market that keeps the company in operations. The company has three central departments which it operates its activities. The first is the Boeing Commercial Airplanes department. It is a department that is responsible for designing and assembling commercial planes. It is the largest department and is responsible for the majority of the brand name (Allen, Bartsch, Yang, & Yelsa, 2018). The second department is the Defense, Space and Security department. This one is responsible for the production of security items and satellites to be launched into space. Lastly, the company has a department that is fully involved in offering financial services to its customers. I chose this company because it is one of the businesses that have to operate on a global scale. The production of the goods that they sell needs to be done with high technology, and as a result, they sell their products on the global market and have a global market share that helps serve the needs of all the people. The company also provides a good example that can allow for the analysis of the global operations and the other global factors that may be affecting the company as a whole. Boeing offers an all-around company that can be analyzed and a clear plan can be created for future operation. THE BOEING COMPANY 3 Commercial Aircrafts The product that I chose to focus on is the commercial airliners that Boeing is a world leader. Boeing produces a wide range of commercial jets that they sell all across the world to airlines, governments, and private owners. These are products that have over time grown their demand as a result of an increase in the number of airlines that operating all across the world. There have been rises in demand especially in the emerging markets where airlines are growing by a considerable margin. This growth has led to an increase in the total number of people that are flying and hence even more planes are needed globally. The demand has also led to the development of other manufacturers that have developed commercial aircraft that can compete with those that are made by Boeing. Among the most notable manufacturers are Airbus, Embraer, and Bombardier (Lawrence & Thornton, 2017). These companies have made airplanes that can compete effectively. All these are positive things that have led to an increase in the number of planes that are produced per year and hence this has increased competition for Boeing. In this project, I will be considering how Boeing is doing in the global competition as well as the things that the company can do to improve their position in the global market for the commercial planes. As smaller companies develop, there is a need for Boeing to have a plan that can help them to compete effectively and even gain market in the global aviation market. Commercial aircraft are products that are complex to make and that need a lot of effort. The planes made are also unique, and this makes it necessary for Boeing to create products that can win market when compared to the others. Market THE BOEING COMPANY 4 One of the newest commercial airliners that Boeing is offering is the Boeing 777X. It is a widebody aircraft that was designed to replace the current fleet of triple sevens. The airplane has just been completed and is currently undergoing tests to grantee its safety. One of the markets where the plane has a lot of potential is the Chinese market. China is a country of more than a billion people and the airline industry in the country has grown significantly in recent years. There are also many airlines in the country that are looking to retire some wide-body jets in the coming years and hence a significant opportunity for the company. I will focus on how best the company can sell the Boeing 777X in the Chinese market. THE BOEING COMPANY 5 References Allen, S. C., Bartsch, K., Yang, K., & Yelsa, K. (2018). Analysis: The Boeing Company. Lawrence, P. K., & Thornton, D. W. (2017). Deep stall: the turbulent story of Boeing commercial airplanes. Routledge.
