The Verizon strike of 2016 remains to be one of the massive strikes across the US. A number of
factors fueled the strike. Ideally, the workers decided to go on strike after failing to come to
terms with the company about a new labor agreement when the contract ended. As such, the
Verizon’s workers were not happy by the way the company’s management was treating them and
its method of making important decisions which affected the workers without involving them. As
such, the workers had a lot which they felt were being done by the company to make it hard for
them to work well. For example, the main reason behind the strike was that the company was
forcing workers to work in regions located far from their homes one at a time for months
(Stangler, 2016). This did not augur well with workers especially that the company did not
involve the workers during the period of making the decision. As a result, workers were not
happy and felt that the company was taking their freedom and say in the company by deciding
what they can do without the workers’ consent. Due to the fact that the company could not listen
to them, the only way was for them to start a strike.
Another reason was the offshoring of jobs to other workers in foreign nations. This was another
