American has been called a nation of immigrants however many Americans reacted
negatively to the mass immigrations of the 1840 and 1850 who immigrated during this time
period and what factors concerning their pierce provoked American hostility.
Efficient and skilled labor tends to raise the overall productivity and thus, it becomes a
more sophisticated resource that can use the capital economically and efficiently. We believe that
the immigrant workers (selective) are more skilled and more efficient than our domestic worker,
not with respect to their quality of service, but because of their ability to do it more efficiently,
their inclusion will increase the productivity. The percentage of immigrants in the overall
population is not much different than many other times throughout our history. Today
immigrants make up approximately13% of the total U.S. population.

Immigration decreases the market wage rate in the very sector in which they arrive. By doing so,
they tend to increase the national income by more than the amount what it really costs to hire
them. In this sense, only skilled immigrants can generate and spread human capital externalities
Hence, let everybody in is not a compelling argument. Let doctors and engineers in seems more
compelling since they will reduce the prices of such labor in the nation, reduce the costs of
services in medical and industry and hence, helps the economy. Immigration tends to reduce the
domestic market wage rate which implies that the market wage now equals the productivity of
last immigrant hired. Most immigrants who come to this country work hard to take care of their
families and themselves. Many studies have shown that on average immigrants pay more in taxes
than they receive in benefits, meaning the taxes they pay more than cover the cost of things like
public education and healthcare.

This shows that immigrants increase the national income by more than what it costs to employ
them. High-skill immigrants can spread human capital externalities as their influx exposes
natives to new forms of knowledge, increases their human capital and makes them more
productive.
As a global economic power US attracts many nations individuals. But there are certain rules
formed from time to time from colonial period to the post 1960 amendments.

According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, while the overall percentage of immigrants and
the number of undocumented immigrants in the U.S. both increased sharply after 1990, the
violent crime rate in the U.S. during that time plummeted 45 percent and the property crime rate
dropped by 42 percent. Studies have consistently found that immigrants are less likely to be
incarcerated than native-born Americans.
In 2013, for example, immigrants added $1.6 trillion to total U.S. gross domestic product. it is
seen that immigrants complement native-born workers and increase the standard of living for all
Americans. as consumers in local communities, immigrants create demand for small businesses
and strengthen the economy. Immigrant entrepreneurs have also played a significant role in
advancing technological innovation and creating businesses.
