In the constitutional republic, the people are the source of power of the government. The
government gets the right to govern from the people. In constitutional democracy powers of the
government are regulated by the constitution which may be available in a written or unwritten
form. The electorate controls the elected representative through a voting process. In a
constitutional democracy, the elected representatives are responsible for their decisions and their
behaviors while in office. There are two essential components of a democratic government. The
legal element of the democratic government concerns itself with the political authority in the
nation. The constitution determines how legislative authority is defined, regulated and is
distributed by the law. The constitution also governs the jurisdiction of the government and
determines the mode of distribution of power among the organs of the government. The
democratic component of the constitutional democracy states which hold power, how political
power is acquired and the means of retaining it and the responsibilities of those who hold power
provided by the constitution.

Washington distributed his farewell address in 1783. The farewell speech marked the first
