1 Should students pay for textbooks!? After studying at school for twelve years, trying as hard as you can to get a good GPA that will get you into an excellent college, talking with your teachers to get recommendations, applying for a college that you desire to attend, you finally get accepted to the college you want. By then, you are probably eighteen and you have to be responsible for yourself and for engaging introduction! everything that you used to have your parents taking care of. Now, without any previous experience, you suddenly need to pay for your college tuition, housing, food, clothes, please use transportation, insurance, and numerous other expenses. You are working so hard to at least get active voice some of these expenses paid by trying to have part time job, get a loan, ask for family support, or * word choice please look at flow qualify for college finance. Probably now your burden has decreased, but you can't handle any more expenses. Eventually, you get to college and in the first day when you are reviewing each class's syllabus, you get surprised by the many textbooks that are required from you. You don't * agreement have the money for that and don't wish to fail the class. Most of these textbooks are too between and expensive; they cost from one hundred to three hundred dollars. Why would students spend that amount of money each semester for textbooks they are going to use for a few months? It is pretty editorial statements like this much clear that the overpricing of textbooks is overwhelming for students and is a serious issue please avoid that needs to be considered b, rsity. i 2 & context / Choice When I first came to University, I had the opportunity to hear from word 'Choice students in different economic situations how they pay for school expenses. I met students who have full scholarships, part scholarships, part time jobs, family support, and students who have repeat no income at all. I saw students struggling so hard to be able to afford these required textbooks, might replace with lockers to aucie but sadly some of them can't afford them at all. Professors are making it so hard and please as context overwhelming for their students to pass the course. Unfortunately, in some classes you will not pass thenr if you do not have textbook, no matter how hard you work and how much effort you put in. word choice As we know, the bookstore is one of the most important things provided by the campus. However, I have some concerns regarding the bookstore's policy. I think that the bookstore is making it even harder for students to pay for textbooks. Most of the textbooks there are two to wood choice three times more expensive than online bookstores. The bookstore says that they match prices, but this is another trick to attract students. I remember once I found a textbook in the bookstore word choice website that was much cheaper than the one in store, and when I told them to match the price, they said that they couldn't do that because they couldn't see the same page on the system. Even yikes, How awfiel!!. So solly after I showed them the page on my phone, they said no anyway. Of course, I had to buy the this textbook in store because I had no choice, and I don't have time for the shipping because I have happened! already been in a couple of classes without the textbook. Yes, there are book rentals and used books, but some classes require access codes which are only available in new textbooks. Also, when textbooks are low in stock, rentals become much more expensive and make no big difference from new textbooks. Some transfer students say that in their previous schools they used to have textbook&exchange center, Where students can drop off textbooks they no longer use and get any available textbook they need. One of the students excellent idea! 1 of boole Alghamdi 3 might add that this the price got his chemistry textbook which costs nearly two hundred dollars for free. So I think we should Word choice have such textbooks exchange center on campus. University tuition is more than eleven thousand dollars, and out-of-state tuition is three times more. The tuition does not include food or housing, so at least it should include textbooks and other class requirements. I see students attending their classes during the day and working at night. This leaves them with no time for their studies and time for their own, and they can barely pay their tuition and still need to pay for textbooks. So, I think that the school is somehow responsible for these requirements and should have a role in that. I understand that tuition covers a lot, especially when looking at the many amenities provides its students with. However, including textbooky/expenses in tuition as this is a proposal, this should be "could" could have a big impact on the university. This will attract a lot of students to come to because they won't pay for textbooks beside the other great services provided by the campus, such as free shuttles, writing center, library, technology, Wi-Fi, etc. Therefore, GMU'S tuition income will be hugely increased. This will not only help GMU offer more amenities for students, but will also improve its ranking amongst other colleges. On the other hand, Xncluding textbooks expenses in tuition will not have much cost impact for the university. In other words, GMU will not spend much money on this because students will not keep these textbooks forever, they will only borrow them for one semester, and at the end of each semester, they will turn them back in good condition or pay for them if lost or flow misused. Otherwise, the campus could put hold on the student's account. care feet with please be superlatives University has always been known as the caring campus of its students. The most stressful factor for students is their economic situations/So, upon the consideration of Alghamdi 4 including textbooks in tuition and publishing textbook exchange center, GMU will be more and more accessible for all students from different economic situations. Students should not have both economic pressure and studies stress as they approach their goals in college. will meet all students needs and offer them more comfort. This will not only release stress from students and help them focus more in their academics, but also get them more excited and engaged throughout their time on campus.
