ART100 Written Summary 5 December 1
A Psychological Selfie PortraitThe selfie is so ubiquitous these days that even iphones have “selfie” modes! The subculture of the selfie exploded with the onset of the mirror camera mode- and now, it would be difficult to find anyone that has a smart phone that does not know what a selfie is. However, this practice has been around for hundreds of years, and was previously identified as a “self portrait”. The earliest that I can identify are from as far back as the Renaissance (1500’s). Not all artists worked in this mode, however this is when we see artists reflecting back on themselves, some more often than others (Rembrandt). For this week’s summary, you are going to create a psychological self portrait that is influenced by an artist from the textbook, and analyze it as an art historian might, or someone with a trained eye might, (like yours!).A psychological self portrait gives us an insight into your emotions and feelings. It tells us of where you are at mentally and emotionally. Color, size, iconography, how much space your image takes up in the composition: these elements together tell us the story of you, in that moment. ***********************Here are the Requirements:1. Take a photograph of YOURSELF that is psychologically interesting. It MUST be inspired by an image from the textbook*. Use your phones camera settings to adjust the colors, zoom in, crop, etc. Your selfie portrait must tell a story that you will interpret based on these elements:Composition, Vantage; are you central and up close? Significantly small and off center? Zoom in! Or out!Up close leaves no mystery, as opposed to far awayCentral gives you the dominant role, off center may indicate a role reversal of central importanceColor; black & white, color saturation- vivid, faded. Use your phone’s camera settings to adjust the colors to suit the psychological interpretation.Bright saturation may indicate a false intensityFaded colors may indicate lack of emotion, lossBlack and white can tell of loss of vigor, or create extreme dramaIconography: Props, clothingObjects and types of clothing must add to the story of your mental and emotional status and lead to an interpretation.2. Analyze your selfie based on the 3 elements:compositioncolor iconography/objects3. Reflection: was it successful? Does it create the psychological portrait you were hoping for?4. Identify the artist’s work that you took inspiration from. This MUST be from the textbook. Is the inspiration evident? How was it inspired by the artist? Be specific. Make your image look as close as you can to your inspired art-work.Thanks!**************************Things to consider:You may create a factitious character like Cindy Sherman did. This broadens your possibilities. Make up a totally new you!Use an artist from the textbook as an inspiration; you do not have to copy them.*Refer to pgs 317-323, or images 11.4-11.13 for reference.Things not to do:No normal everyday selfies. No environments/backgrounds that are vague or not directly related to your psychological portrait.Use the timer mode on your phone, so…..no hands holding the phone. Make it a real portrait!WRITTEN SUMMARY REQUIREMENTS:Provide the information in the numbered format above.CITE sources, if you use them (it is not necessary to use another source other than your text book). Your submission will be scanned through for originality. I will use this data to inform your grade. If you do not cite, it will "appear" that plagiarism is taking place. Columbia Southern University Cognitive Development Paper
Note: While it is understood different people and even entire cultures have different parenting styles, your answers should be based on the research and theories presented in this unit.Describe the stage of cognitive development of the child in each scenario. Explain how you would address the child and the situation. Will you use punishment in any of the situations? What tactics would be the most useful considering your child’s level of cognitive development? Scenario 1: Jimmy screams when the batteries die on his Avengers motorcycle. Previously, his mother had been able to put the motorcycle away and have Jimmy immediately engage in playing with something else. However, she has noticed that he is not doing that this time. He continues to scream even though the motorcycle has been put in a drawer. As his parent, how would you respond?Scenario 2: An 8-year-old boy and his 10-year-old brother are told to share three cans of soda pop. The 8-year-old becomes angry when his 10-year-old brother takes two of the cans and gives the 8-year-old only one can. The 10-year-old grabs two glasses and pours one soda into the two glasses and gives it to the 8-year-old. Everything is fine now as they both have two soda pop drinks. How do you address each child?Scenario 3: Your 21-year-old daughter comes home from college and excitedly shares that she is quitting school to invest more time in her social media career. In fact, she reveals that she will be quitting school, despite only having 1 year left to complete her bachelor’s degree. (She does not see the need for her degree any longer, as her Instagram followers have increased exponentially since she has begun doing some of the popular Tik Tok challenges.) She has decided to throw away her former career plans and become a full-time social media influencer. Now, her life is all set! (What is your reaction?)Your combined answers for each scenario must be at least 150 words, for a minimum of 450 words for the entire assignment (not including the title and reference pages).Your answers should include an insightful and thorough analysis and present a strong argument with evidence. You must use at least one source to support your analysis. This may be your textbook or another scholarly source. All sources used will be properly cited. Your case study, including all references, will be formatted in APA style.

CU Psychopathology in Each Diagnostic Possibilities & Mental Health Status Discussion
FIRST ASSIGNMENTOverviewThe purpose of this first assignment is to give you an initial opportunity to use the DSM-5 to make a diagnosis based on information provided in a specific case. Following the guidelines for diagnosis provided in the Unit 2 Introduction, think through the information in the case to come up with a diagnostic hypothesis. Follow the format of the Case Study Response Guide in the document you submit as your assignment. The focus of this assignment is the Case Study of Molly.InstructionsRead the Case Study of Molly.Using the DSM-5, follow the guidelines for diagnosis to think through how you would diagnose Molly's condition.Once you have arrived at your diagnostic hypothesis, use the Case Study Response Guide to format your assignment, including your diagnosis in DSM-5 format.Address the following questions in Part 4 of the Case Study Response Guide:What other kinds of information would you like to know about Molly? For illustrative purposes, add your own additional facts to Molly's case and describe how this additional information might alter the diagnostic hypothesis. SECOND ASSIGNMENTReview the Case Study of Bill. This case study is used for the second discussion as well as for this assignment.Use the Case Study Response Guide to format your assignment. In Section 4 of the response guide, address each of the following:What diagnostic possibilities does Bill's case present? What have you read in the case history so far that presents these possibilities for you? What kind of questions you might ask to evaluate each diagnostic possibility? You must consider at least two—but no more than three—diagnostic possibilities and develop a series of questions to interview for each possibility. What possible answers would lead you toward or away from each of your possibilities?THIRD ASSIGNMENTRead the Case Study of Ben, Part 2.Use the Case Study Response Guide to assist you in revisiting your diagnosis of Ben's condition, incorporating this new information. In Section 4 of the response guide, address each of the following:In each of these scenarios, describe how the new information alters the picture presented in the original case study.Describe your new diagnostic hypotheses, and justify your conclusions. What further diagnostic evaluation do you believe is warranted?FOURTH ASSIGNMENTReview the Case Study of Kimberly, Part 1 and submit your responses to these questions as part of your assignment:What diagnostic possibilities do Kimberly's case present? What evidence in the case history presents these possibilities for you? What kind of questions you might ask to evaluate each diagnostic possibility? You must consider at least two, but no more than three, diagnostic possibilities, and develop a series of questions to interview for each possibility. What possible answers would incline you toward or away from each of your various possibilities? What further diagnostic evaluation is needed to clarify Kimberly's diagnosis?FIFTH ASSIGNMENTReview the two new scenarios in the Case Study of Kimberly, Parts 2 and 3:Do not mix the two scenarios. When you respond to one, label it as either Part 2 or Part 3. Then, respond to the other and properly label it.In each scenario, do not assume the other scenario is true.Read both of these scenarios and submit your responses as part of your assignment:Describe how the new information alters the picture presented in the original case study. Be sure to address how the diathesis-stress model may apply.Describe your new diagnostic hypotheses, and justify your conclusions.Report on any further diagnostic evaluation you believe is warranted.Use the Case Study Response Guide to format your response for each scenario in this assignment.SIXTH ASSIGNMENTYour assessment paper on the final Case Study of Danial, Parts 1, 2, and 3 will provide you with an opportunity to consider psychopathology issues from a developmental perspective, and to assess the differences between children, adolescents, and adults. This assessment will provide you with a further understanding of psychopathology and improve your diagnostic skills across the life span. The Case Study of Danial provides three scenarios at different stages in his life. These scenarios each include:A developmental history.Family background.Reason(s) for referral.Basic assessment results.Issues in treatment. After you read each scenario, you will be asked to respond to the same series of questions and to integrate information at each stage of Danial's life.Use the Case Study Response Guide to format your assignment for each of the three scenarios. Complete your assessment paper by adding a Part 4 at the end, as described in the instructions.InstructionsRespond to the questions below ( The Questions to Address for Danial...) for each part of Danial's case study. Be particularly careful to integrate information from each preceding developmental stage into your responses, as they provide you with valuable history. Then answer the final questions as Part 4.Think of each part of the case study as your first exposure to Danial, but in each successive part, you will be expected to consider all material from the previous scenarios. For example:Part 1: When you respond to the questions in Part 1, all the information you know about Danial is contained in Part 1. Your answers will relate to only this scenario.Part 2: When you respond to the questions in Part 2, you will have access to the expanded history. Respond to the scenario presented in Danial, Part 2, but also be aware of his previous history detailed in Part 1. Think of Part 1 as information from a medical record. Be sure to integrate this information into your response to the questions in Part 2.Part 3: When you respond to Part 3, you will have access to the full history. Respond to the information presented in Danial, Part 3 at that point. Be sure to integrate his previous history from Parts 1 and 2 into your Part 3 answer.Part 4: This is a separate section designed to integrate important issues from this course. The Questions to Address for Danial, After Each Part (1, 2, and 3)What are your diagnostic hypotheses for Danial in this scenario? Justify your conclusions.Describe what further diagnostic information you need (what further diagnostic evaluation is warranted) at the end of this scenario. From a diathesis-stress perspective, what impact do the cultural, ethnic, and psychosexual issues have on Danial and his family in this scenario, and what other issues may play a role?Part 4 Questions and IssuesGiven Danial's family background and his open homosexuality, what cultural and ethnic factors do you need to be aware of at the different stages of his life, and how would you deal with them in arriving at your diagnoses? Give your reasoning with supporting documentation.Compare and contrast the changing roles of psychosexual diagnoses in the DSM text since the 1950s.Assessment RequirementsTo achieve a successful final assessment outcome, you are expected to meet the following requirements:Written communication: Written communication is free of errors that detract from the overall message.Thoroughness: The paper must address each question completely.
