Question Description

Overview

We know that stakeholder organizations use various website elements and techniques such as media (images, videos, infographics, photographs, graphics, etc.), text, color, organization of content and pages, links and supporting evidence, etc.), to move their target audience toward their desired purpose (to inform, persuade, entertain, take a specific action, or a combination of purposes)

Description

By completing your Part 1 Preliminary Response, you’ve used your observational skills in identifying what you see as the stakeholder’s purpose and goal, intended audience, and tone, and you have pointed to and described the stakeholder’s use of media, evidence, and content organization. Now you are ready, in Part 2, to advance your analysis by writing your intermediate Project 2 draft.

This Part 2 assignment asks you (1) to interpret your observations by explaining and evaluating how the stakeholder organization uses the website elements and techniques you addressed in Part 1 to move its intended audience toward its desired purpose and goal and (2) to analyzehow well these website elements and techniques accomplish this objective. To narrow the focus of your 1,000 – 1,200-word intermediate essay, you will choose 4-6 elementsand/or techniques that are complex enough to spend an entire essay analyzing.

In your analysis, you will identify the stakeholder’s desired purpose and website choices (elements and techniques), consider the stakeholder’s possible intentions in making these choices, and provide explanations and evidence to support your evaluation of the stakeholder’s effectiveness in using these website elements and techniques to move its intended audience toward its desired purpose and goal.

In addition to drawing evidence from the website (your primary source), use two sources from Project 1, your textbook, or from additional research to support your analysis.

These sources are from Project 1.Please use them as it is asking in the description

Step-by-Step

The following steps will help you to further develop your Part 2 Intermediate Draft:

  • Begin with a creative title that reflects your analysis of the stakeholder’s website.
  • Your introduction should identify the stakeholder organization that addresses the selected topic you’ve been exploring, the stakeholder’s intended audience, desired purpose (e.g., to inform, persuade, entertain, take a specific action, or a combination of purposes), and goals (e.g., interests, mission, and/or message), the 4-6 elements and techniques you will include in your analysis, and your thesis: the one or two sentences that evaluate the stakeholder’s effectiveness in using the website elements and techniques to move its intended audience toward its desired purpose and goal.
  • Organize the body of your analysis into key elements and techniques. Introduce each key element and technique with a topic sentence that explains and evaluates how well the stakeholder organization uses the element/technique toward its desired purpose and goal. Describe the element/technique and consider the stakeholder’s possible intention in using this element/technique. Follow each topic sentence with supporting evidence from the website to support your claim. Should you determine a stakeholder’s use of a website element/technique does not effectively move its intended audience toward its desired purpose and goal, suggest the ways in which this stakeholder’s choice might have been more effective. Additionally, integrate appropriate evidence from your 2 sources as it applies.
  • Be sure to use clear transitions as you introduce key elements and techniques.
  • Provide source citations according to the required guidelines.
  • Write a conclusion to your analysis that highlights your main points, including the thesis and major claims from the body paragraphs. You should end your conclusion with realistic forward thinking ideas about how your analysis of the stakeholder’s website might demonstrate any possibilities for future research/action.
  • Proofread your Part 2 analysis.

1 ENC 1101 10/7/2018 Project 2.1 Early Draft: Reviewing Stakeholder’s Website 1. At the first glance I have noticed that the website contains many popup windows and pages that contain different topics related to environment. The website seems to be detailed with all clean act topics. There is also a large topic on air pollution, which addresses the challenges of EPA in the management of its air. This seem to be an informative site at the first glance. 2. The intended purpose for this site to the stakeholders is the call to action and also persuading to unify them to deal with the past challenges. The website organizes this call to action by presenting the legal challenges and obligations under the clean Air act and how pollution seems to affect all stakeholders involved. 2 Figure (1) 3. The intended goal for the stakeholders is to insure that they have met the based standards of air pollutants by following the clean air act. The second is to take up measures in limiting the effects of climate change by all stakeholders. The third call to action is to reduce the risks to toxification by pollutants and the third effect is to protecting the ozone layere from further damage and degradation. 3 Figure (2) 4. The website provides links to the internet for searching air pollution and different topics that are related to air pollution. The main goal for these links is to provide the stakeholders with information related to the harmful effects of air pollution to the environment. The following are the links. 4 Figure (3) 5. The EPA website uses more than just words to communicate about the need to save the environment. Several pictures of environmental conservation and destruction have been used to demonstrate the need to conserve and also save the environmental. 5 Figure (4) 6. The intended audience for this website includes federal agencies, local population, tribal and local governments and everyone in the United States. This is because the website contains different topics and also different pages that address the problems of all individuals. According to the website, the management of the environment should not be left out to the people but to all individuals and stakeholders who would help to provide their services and unite to manage the challenges of environmental protection over time. 7. The page on Requirements and History provides many facts and references about the Environmental Protection agency. According to the website, there are many past challenges that have prevented the United States from achieving universal goals of protecting the environment. This has been covered through the established policies that have helped to improve the 6 management of air pollution. The references and the sources used such as the Clean Air Act demonstrate the usefulness and also the reliability of this website to many individuals. 8. The website is organized into pages that provide different information about the topics of environmental management and controlling of pollution. The pages have been organized logically from the environmental topics, to laws and regulations and also information about EPA have been logically organized in the website to enable easy navigation. Once a person has logged into the website, it is easy for them to navigate from one topic to another and they can also easily go back. This has provided user friendly navigation that has been possible as a result of easy movement in the website. 9. The tone used in this website is formal. Objective and critical. The website discusses information about how people have failed to take actions to prevent the destruction of the environment. According to the tone, there has been many changes but the progress of EPA has been failed by organizations and stakeholders who have failed to support its causes. 10. This website contains more information than pictures and images that what I did in project 1. The website is easy to navigate and accessible to many individuals. The information provided about pollution in this website is more detailed and can help more people to gain information on how to protect their environment. 11. I initially expected the website to be less informative and to contain a strict tone on the environmental issues that people currently face. However, I was amazed to find that the website is more user friendly and contains topics ranging from overview of clean air legislation to how people can become accountable in the management of the environmental pollution challenges. 7 The website is more informative on the issues of environment and how people can use the available standards to prevent pollution.
