Explanation & Answer
Overall when listening to music, your teacher/professor will likely want you to start with the 7 elements of music. Take the time to listen to the music multiple times. It is so hard to listen for and comment on every musical element in one listen through and it can be overwhelming to do. Each time you listen to the music just listen for one specific thing. Focus on that element for the entire run through. Then once you have completely explored that element, move onto the next. It may even take multiple times just to completely explore one element of the music. Another tip is to look into the history of the music. What was the music used for, ballet, opera, folk dances? Does it have words? The amount you can learn about the music just from doing this is incredible. It also helps to put the music in context for the non auditory learners. Do you learn by reading? Writing? Seeing? Hearing? Analyzing ...
