In an educational institution set up, leaders cannot go unnoticed for long and will ultimately
move up the ladder. The teacher leaders drive the institutions goals/initiatives while everyone else
follows suit. Shared leadership refers to the practice of governing an institution by molding other
persons (teachers in this case) in making important decisions affecting the school (Wang, D, &
Zhang (2014). These decisions range from schools’ operations to academics. It involves the
creation of decision-making opportunities for teachers, staff members, students, parents, and
community members. This practice is seen as a substitute to the old-styled form of school control
in which an administrative head/principal exercises executive authority and makes most
governance decisions without necessarily seeking advice from other members of the school
