Outline market entry mode options for this country. Riskier regions might need a less risky entry mode,
while regions full of opportunities and minimal risks, could use a risky approach. Refer to Chapters 14 &

Greenfield Investments, Licensing, Franchising, Turnkey Operations and Joint Ventures.

Trade Regulations and Legal Considerations
Trade Policies (Trade Regulations and Standards in France, 2011)
Duties are employed on imports from non-EU countries through an established
platform by the EU called Community Integrated Tariff (TARIC).
Duties imposed on non-EU countries such as the USA are moderate.
Import duties range from 5% to 17%, but most raw materials enter the country
duty free while manufactured good suffer the 5-17% percentage duty.
For a U.S exporter into France, market restrictions and also food laws befall
him or her
TARIC is responsible for showing the various rules that apply to products
especially those that are exported into the EU’s custom territory.
France maintains a list of its goods that are subject to import licensing which
happens in all EU countries.
For Import Documentation, France uses the Single Administrative Document
Political-Legal Environment:
Observation Deck
Business Observations (Trade Regulations and Standards, 2011)
Trade policies in France are more dependent on the European Union since it’s
a member of the union.
There are trade restrictions and differences on the levies imposed depending
on whether the involved country is a member of the EU or not.
There is a constraint to importation of manufactured products since raw
materials are duty free while manufactured goods suffer a duty of between
5% and 17%.
The EU may discourage importers since goods imported from the USA and
have USA certifications are retested to satisfy the EU’s requirements.
