Description

Your proposed information system is still a contender. The executives, however, are asking whether it is too limited to prevent the shadow IT projects that continue to take place throughout the organization. They believe that you have considered what the organization does now, but how will your system adapt to new products and processes? Read IQMS (2015) for a concrete example of what they mean. You’ll have to quell their fears, so it’s time for another memo. Please focus on these points:

1. Identify any significant changes that your organization might reasonably make in its product offerings in the next 3 years. Explain the competitive benefits of this change.

2. Explain how your information system addresses or can adapt to the introduction of these new product offerings.

3. Give one reason why capabilities for the new product offerings should or should not be incorporated in the initial information system design. Justify your reason.

This memo should be 3–5 pages long. Reference: IQMS. (2015). Quick Response Manufacturing Yields Lower Inventories & Improves cash flow.

SUBJECT: Implementation of the Information System into the Organization
Organizations in the modern business environment are faced by challenges on how to
develop a sustainable competitive advantage in this rapidly changing environment. In this era of
market globalization, only organizations with the capability to develop and sustain a competitive
advantage can survive. The development and use of information systems is the current trend that
is majorly concerned with the collecting, processing and dissemination of useful information that
allows organizations to plan better and make decisions that lead to better results. In the face of
this technological change, an organization needs to make significant changes that will allow it to
improve its competitive position in the market.
The previous memo highlighted the need and benefits of implementing a new information
system in the organization to replace the outdated one. However, this implementation has been
delayed by the shadow IT. This delay is attributed to inadequate training of the employees that
will allow the organization to use the new information system properly. Various problems are
related to the shadow IT, and the management should implement strategies that will allow the
employees to familiarize with the new information system. The organization risks experiencing
resistance from employees when they use unsupported hardware and software. The present
product offerings delivered by the company to its customers are not adequate to enable the
company to compete favorably in the market. This is because the information system that has
been in use is outdated and cannot meet the customer’s expectations. This is a wakeup call to the
organization...
