You will do research on virality and design/create an infographic to provide information to a broad audience about what virality is. It should incorporate lessons learned from building and disseminating your own content, and use that as an example of something that was successful (or unsuccessful). Grades will be based on (1) the content and (2) the creativity of the way information is presented. However you decide to present information, it should be submitted in a format (.pptx, PDF, jpg, etc.) that could be printed as a poster and displayed. There are many sites for making infographics, including Infogr.am (Links to an external site.), Easelly (Links to an external site.), Piktochart (Links to an external site.), Visme (Links to an external site.), and Canva (Links to an external site.). Example infographics from previous classes can be found here and here . Note that the assignment was a bit different in previous semesters and those infographics might be missing content required of you. At a minimum, you address the following components: • • • • What is virality/what does it mean to go viral in the information age? Why do some things go viral while others don't? How is technology shaping the content we see online? What are examples of things that have gone viral? Infographics should also include citations/references to where any data is collected. Those sources should be trustworthy and reliable. The content should be created for consumption by a wide audience, meaning that it provides information in an easy-to-consume format, that isn't bogged down by jargon (or jargon is defined). People who engage with the infographic should come away with new knowledge beyond what they commonly know and understand from their regular internet use.
