Each discussion consists of at least 5 posts and is worth up to 25 points each week. The posts are as follows: 1. Your original post. 2. Response posts to two of your peers. a. Do you best to find two peers to reply to that do not yet have 2 responses. We want to spread the conversation out evenly so that everyone can participate. 3. Moderation of your original post a. Respond to the people that have commented on your original post. You can do these before Saturday if you already have replies. b. If you don’t have at least 2 responses to your original post, do an extra response to a peer’s original post for each moderation that you need to do. I am married and have a beautiful little girl who is five. My name was chosen by my father, which makes me a Jr. so there wasn't a meaning behind it other than naming me after him. I am in the Army and have been for 10 years now, during my time in I have traveled to seven different countries outside of the U.S. and enjoyed my time in Europe the most. I am currently stationed in North Carolina and hope to be moving back to AZ and actually attend college on campus next year. What I enjoy most is spending time with my family because over the past four years my new occupation has really taken me away due to the high demand for my specialty. After being away in different countries a majority of the time its nice just to sit down and relax with my own family. Since I have been in the Army my family has had a tradition of having a huge family BBQ every time I come home. We have a pool out for the kids, every one takes turns riding in the razor and riding the dirt bikes and quads all day and night. This tradition has really brought my family together as a whole. Everyone attends regardless of the feelings they share amongst each other and everyone enjoys themselves. I don't know if it is just the fact of missing me, there daughter, and granddaughter but it works and creates new memories every visit. I would definitely continue this tradition even when I get out of the military, but the only change would be is that it would be more often because I won't be as far away. It creates a perfect environment that everyone feels comfortable in and can just enjoy the moment. Kelsie Clifton 1 day ago DB #1 Hello everyone! My name is Kelsie Clifton and I was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. I'm currently living in Anchorage, Alaska with my husband who is in the Air Force. I don't really know how my name was chosen but all my sisters have names that start with the letter K. My parents claim it was just by chance that it's that way but I have my doubts. In my free time I really enjoy cooking and baking. I also really enjoy spending time with my husband and my two year old husky/ lab. I also like spending time outside and hiking in the Alaskan outdoors. One tradition that my family celebrates is having a pickle ornament on the Christmas tree and the first child to find it got an extra gift. My siblings and I are super competitive so we would always make a huge deal about finding this ornament because we wanted the extra gift and bragging rights for the year. I also love pickles, it's an obsession so that adds to the tradition. I have already started the tradition with my husband and plan to continue the tradition with my children once I have them. I wouldn't change anything about the tradition because I have some really good memories with my siblings trying to find the pickle. I've been told by my grandparents that this tradition started in Germany. Some of my family is from Germany so I figured that's where the tradition could have started. I did try to find some research backing up this claims but every article I read said that most German's don't know how this tradition started but it didn't start in Germany. There is a lot of different stories but I don't think there is one story that is truly the answer. 2 days ago Julia Boutin About Me Hello my name is Julia Boutin. I am a sophomore at ASU studying Sports Business. I grew up in New Hampshire but moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 2012 with my mom. My dream is to move to Boston after college and work with TD Garden for their events and promotions. I would also like to live in Boston because most of my family lives in New Hampshire or Massachusetts so it would be nice to live by them. I am also very into music, I play guitar but mostly classic rock. When I was born I was actually named after the Beatles song written but John Lennon, "Julia". It is about his mother who passed away when he was very young. I love to spend time with my family. Every year on my Dad's side we have a family reunion called the Boutin Bash. It is in New Hampshire so I have had to miss it a couple of times since I have moved out here. It is when everyone gets together on the last weekend in July and camps in one of my family members back yard. It is a great way to see family that you don't get to see very often and catch up. I love the atmosphere of the campfires and cookouts that we all get to do together. I would not change a thing about it, personally I hope it continues when I am older so I can bring my family. My family reunion is coming up on 35 years and it started with my grandpa. Family reunions have been around for a lot longer than that so I believe the origin was just the get the family together so we could see each other more often. So that is just a bit about me and my family, I can't wait to read about everyone elses!
