The Entire Process of Wound Healing

The entire process of wound healing begins from the coagulation process at the
hemostasis phase where the wound dries up immediately after the injury. The blood flowing to
the site of injury releases platelets to aggregate and vasoconstriction the blood vessels to stop
further bleeding (Caley, Martins & O'Toole, 2015). Clotting begins to cascade so that it stabilizes
the process of healing. All the foreign materials in the wound surface are removed to secure the
healing process.
The inflammatory phase involves the protection of the body from injury lasting for an
average of four days. The inflammation releases histamine which triggers white Blood Cells
migration and vasodilation of the blood cells. Any debris, dead cell, and bacteria present on the
injury apart of the body are ingested by macrophages and leukocytes (Ritsu, Kawakami, Kanno,
ET AL., 2016). This process results into the cleaning of the dead cells on the wound and any
unwanted bacteria.
At the proliferative phase, new blood cells take three to 24days to form and the new
collagens c contract to decrease the size of the wound, thus speeding the process of healing. The
process of epithelialization begins as the epithelial cells move to the granular tissues (Ritsu,
Kawakami, Kanno, ET AL., 2016). New blood cells then begin to form through angiogenesis,
paving way for the healing phase to begin.
