Personal appearance: Should I change the Way I look?
In modern day society, there are different expectations and standards of personal
appearance. Beauty, which is an idea that offers a perceptual experience of satisfaction, has been
corrupted by society. Therefore, individuals alter the way they look to fit the beauty expectations
of the society.
It is evident that individuals have to deal with stereotypes in the environment they live in.
These stereotypes affect how individuals see themselves in the eyes of others. Edwin Iwata in his
article on Personal Appearance: should I change the Way I look?, indicates the extent to which
Americans are willing to go so as to achieve the ideal body or facial image as expected by the
society. This shows how society has corrupted individuals into boosting their self-image and
