Infidelity affects the whole family, both immediate and extended. The impact on
extended family occurs if the couple has children and each partner has established a relationship
with the extended family (Schmidt, Green & Prouty, 2015). When children learn about the
unfaithfulness of their mother or father, they develop insecurity and suffer a loss of trust in their
parents. Even if parents do not inform them about the infidelity, they feel the tension that exists
