Dynamics of Teamwork: Motivation, Leadership, and Teamwork
Hassan and Fuwad (2013) motivation, leadership and teamwork are the three key
elements that aids in the formation of organizational success and productivity foundation. It is
advised that for efficiency and quality performance in an organization, all employees should
strive to acquire these three traits of a good employee. They should endeavor to demonstrate
good characteristics of a motivated employee, show good leadership behavior, and embrace
teamwork. In order to achieve these, an organizational leadership should equally exhibit and
exercise effective transformational leadership (Hassan and Fuwad, 2013). The objective of this
article is to analyze the effective teamwork dynamics with regard to motivation, teamwork,
leadership and conflict resolution in an organization in relation to a given case study.
Motivation
According to human behavior studies, it has been found that motivation is the internal
drive propelling individuals to exhibit a particularly style of behavior that meets the needs of a
society or an organization (Anderson and Bolt, 2013). In the case study given, it is clearly
demonstrated that the employees are having extremely low motivation to perform their duties.
This is indicated by the fact that most of them come to work late and leave early, while others
have low self esteem and morale, there is a consistent complain on the daily workload and they
luck the enthusiasm for work. For employees to perform their tasks in a productive and
qualitative manner, motivation is essential.
As such, in order to motivate and turn around employee’s work attitude in the
organization, I will adopt Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. I will divide employees’ needs into

physiological, social, safety, self-actualization and self-esteem categories and address them on
the basis of each employee’s hierarchy. Through this, I will be able to identify each and every
employee’s needs and create an environment that enables them to meet their needs through
trainings, monetary, building aspects (Hassan and Fuwad, 2013).
Leadership
According to Anderson and Bolt (2013) leadership is the ability to guide and inspire. It is
the process of guiding individuals or employees towards a specific organizational objective. For
a leader to motivate employees and encourage teamwork, one should focus more on creating
