CIS 431 – Mobile Programming I Labs
Lab 2: Healthy Recipe App Part 1
Due Week 4 and worth 20 points
Note: Completion time may vary, but this lab will take approximately four (4) hours to complete.
In this lab, you will create the “Healthy Recipes” application. You complete the following general steps
that you will repeat every time you create an Android application:
1. Create the user interface, also called an XML, layout, for every screen in the application,
2. Create a Java class, also called an Activity, for every screen in the application,
3. Update the Android Manifest, file for each Java class in the application,
4. Code each Java class with the appropriate objects and actions as needed.
The directions for Part 1 of the Healthy Recipe project are located in Chapter 2 of the Android Boot Camp
for Developers Using Java textbook on pages 34 to 57.
For this part, the Healthy Recipes app will display the recipe name (Bruschetta for this recipe) and an
image illustrating completed recipe along with a button titled “View Recipe”. In the next lab, if the user
taps the View Recipe button, a second window opens displaying the full recipe, including ingredients and
preparation for the Bruschetta.
