Running Head: PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL Team Performance Review By: Adam Castro, Jasmine Belyeu, Lekesha Shaughnessy, Dayante McNeil HRM 531 A performance review of a lower level employee differs from that of a manager. Both of performance appraisals work to align the individual employee’s competencies and performance with the fast food company’s main objective; which is to boost the store’s location profits and positively influence the store’s performance in food safety and customer service. Victor Vroom’s Expectancy Theory transforms a job appraisal into a workflow analysis and motivation tool. It includes competency and performance questions which establish the company’s expectations of a lower level employee, such as a cashier. For instance, questions such as: Is the employee able to take a customer’s order and input the selection into the computer system? Is the employee able to perform basic calculations to accurately balance drawer, and distribute change? An example of performance question is does the employee adhere to attendance and safety policies? The performance appraisal’s questioning considers the employee’s job description to determine if the employee meets, exceeds, or requires training. The questions in the performance review are important because it is a way to monitor the employees work performance. The questions in our evaluation focus on skills such as competency and leadership skills. We want to make sure the employee is competent and exhibits the core competencies that the job requires. Performance review works to make sure the employees are improving and show where improvement is needed.
