Explain the incommunicable and communicable attributes of God. Choose three attributes
under each category. Explain how these incommunicable attributes differentiate God from
the world.
First, the difference between communicable and incommunicable attributes is that
incommunicable attributes are those that are only possessed by God while the communicable
attributes are those that also present in humanity (Bird, 2013). The incommunicable attributes are
such as holiness, infinite and omnipotence among other attributes. Holiness refers to
flawlessness, sinless and perfection of character that is possessed by God through his complete
goodness mercy justice and love as seen in Isaiah 6:3 and Psalms 71:22. Infinite refers to
indefinite measure, and limitless of God as seen in Malachi 3: 6 and Hebrews 13: 8. The
omnipotence of God refers to his capability to perform anything of his desire as evident in
Jeremiah 23: 24.
On the other hand, communicable attributes of God are such as love, goodness, and
mercy. God’s love is perfectly seen through Jesus as seen in 1 John 3:20 which to a certain
extent humanity is also able to express it. Mercy means getting what we didn’t deserve and
sometimes it is exhibited to us though not perfect as God’s. Equally, human beings can be good
for another although their standard is subjective.
The incommunicable attributes differentiate God from the world in the sense that no
human can be able to live sinless and flawless like God and no human being can be able to do
