Sexual assault refers to the act of unconsented sexual contact by one person to the other. Sexual
assault comes in different forms such as sex aggressive touching and sexual advances without
the consent of the victim, use of force to persuade the victim to perform sexual acts and
penetrating another person’s body without their permission as well as acts of rape. Rainn
defines rape as any form of assault when one forces themselves into another person leading
into unconsented penetration into the victim’s sexual organs such as the anus and vagina. For
sex to be categorized as rape, there must be a force. The definition of force is any use of
manipulation whether physical and emotional. The perpetrators of rape use different forms of
threats to the victim. The Rainn study shows that out of ten cases of sexual assaults, seven of
them are committed by persons close to the victim such family members or sexual partners.
Importantly, it is vital to note that rape is sometimes perpetrated by people known to the victim
and not always strangers on that note, it is necessary to understand different types of rape. The
